Hello everyone i'm a marketing student and i'm 19 years old. I live in Belgium and i study marketing with a specialization in communication. We got a task in our english course and we have to use forums and others to communicate with others. Here's my question for you " A recent study shows us that a lot of teens don't use facebook anymore, do you think this will be a mayor problem for marketeers? and what could be the possible solution?
Please let me know what you feel about this current problem
Glen

The only way to find out is to do you're own research on who your target market is -- like their age, sex, location, interest, etc etc. Next find where these people hang out.

Millions of people log into Facebook every day -- so there is a good chance they could be there. If not you may want to try other platforms like YouTube, Forums, Pinterest, Twitter, etc etc.

teens are using other Platforms only because they know almost everyone of their families are on Facebook and they will see all their activites. They just don't want have any Problmes with their elders. Lot of them are still on facebook. they just joined other platform, weher they have their freedom.
Having said that, these won't effect for marketers. Marketing on Facebook is still hot and I think in the coming some years Facebook will give their best to be one of the top social media competitors with lot of oppurtunities.

the Most Paying custommers are still in Facebook. but Google Plus is also giving great oppurtunites for marketers.

I think teens still maintain their FB accounts, even if it might not be their primary option anymore.

I have a question for you. Can you tell me what study has shown that teens don't use facebook?
I bet it's wrong, cause facebook is the top social site without any doubt and people of every age use facebook, and it is a great opportunity for marketers.

  • It's not a problem because it would depend on what your target market is. If you're targeting teens, then you focus your marketing efforts on Twitter or Tumbler. If your target market is adults in your 30's then you go to Facebook. You go where the market is and you work with your target demographic. It's always been that way since marketing has been invented.

Facebook still has the lions share.

That being said do not neglect pinterest/instagram/stumbleupon/<insert whatever is cool atm>

There will always be new fads and trendy social sites, the trick is staying relevant on all of them.

Facebook has now become Global necessity.. as we speak

Every growing business, brand has to maintain a facebook page, the first thing which a brand will start on internet will be facebook page,
Every New Mobile Company makes sure to tell their customers that they have FB app in their cell phones

So you can't just say that facebook is not anymore helpful for marketers, But yes it is always advised to don't put your eggs in single basket.. You should always start with other social sites also, Twitter, Linkedin, Pinterest, Instagram, You can't just ignore them in this age

I also feel pretty confident that teens are, and will keep, using Facebook. Do you have a link to this "case study"?

    Hello,

Facebook's more than one billion users make it a cultural, economic and social phenomenon. The importance of the online social media site to journalism, business, communication and social relationships is hard to overstate, with users across the world devoting countless hours to the site and Facebook becoming an increasingly important way of obtaining information not only about friends and family but also about world events. Whether it's good or bad is debatable, but the site's impact is unquestionable.

For businesses, Facebook is about connecting businesses with customers. Its impact on the field of communications between businesses and those customers -- and prospects -- means that many have turned away from traditional communication tools like newspaper advertising or traditional direct mail and have established storefronts on Facebook.

Facebook has really changed the way people go about promoting there business. With so many people with varied interests available on a single platform, there is something for everyone. All you need to do is find the right target audience and then market your business to them. Facebook provides you all the tools required to reach these people.

    Thanks, Have a nice day

Using Facebook to propel your business is a big advantage that you should never overlook. This very popular site can make business promotion a lot easier for you. Whatever your business maybe, Facebook can help you in so many ways. If you have a product to sell, a service to provide, or anything to promote, Facebook can make sure that you reach the right people all the time.

It's harder to sell to teens anyway - as a rule I don't target less than 30 years old. In the old days you could monetize teen traffic with downloads but FB have outlawed that now.

I have read these replies and found you have good basis for your studies - you got these from the experts. Now go back to your target market. Do your demographics well (including the physical location). Get the actual data to complete the research.

That is an interesting study. From my personal experience is that teenagers do use Facebook. I have 3 in my family and they are on it daily. I know they also use other platforms too.
However, I agree with the other commenter in that you need to do research into your targeet market and find out where they are and do your marketing there.

Yes! So many teenagers doesn't USE Facebook :

    10% ~

    1. Lack of Knowledge
    2. Beware of Hackers
    3. Not Interested in this Trend
    4. Afraid of Parents..etc

Yes!! Again...By this 10% of teenagers who doesn't use FB - It will not effect to the Marketers. As for a Business they are having many ways to publish there products ( diff. kinds of marketing ) - word of mouth , direct marketing etc..So,It was not big deal for marketers.
