Hey guys,
Do you think it's possible to market and grow an ecommerce site using only social media?

    Hello,

Social media is a bit of a puzzle for eCommerce. On the one hand, new social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest provide a direct connection between brands and customers. Yet social media tends to produce precisely bupkis in direct online sales.

It's best to think of social channels the same as you think of marketing content such as blog posts, emails, and brochures. Social media tends to struggle at converting sales, but it's an excellent tool for engaging people and slowly pushing them toward that shopping cart. Here are four you can do to turn your flimsy social media strategy into a powerful eCommerce tool.

Social Media offers a web-based opportunity for you to gain customers, increase your knowledgebase about what your customers are looking for and get them involved in your business. Social media includes many different forms of online communication, including Facebook, Twitter, blogs, forums and podcasts, just to name a few.
So its a great idea to eCommerce business with social media.

    Have a nice day

Pinterest might be help a lot, but I wouldn't use social as the sole strategy. You need lots of traffic to get conversions for ecommerce.

I wouldn't do it myself, however we got a client that is doing it quiet well with their web-shop, and they are only using Social Media, they have no website, no blog or anything else, except Facebook Page, LinkedIn company page and a YouTube channel. This client sells T-shirts btw.

Yes of course. I know one guy who owns a good ecommerce store and he literally has millions of untargeted twitter followers that brings a lot of sales.

        I will try this too.

Has anybody tried this service: Cheap Twitter Followers?

I think it will depend on the industry and type of product.

I.e. I can see social media being a very good option for a business that sells T-shirts or similar, but would using social media alone be viable for other industries?

I would assume cheap products you can buy without too much consideration, would do best on social media, but this is only my assumptions, I have little practical experience with this.
