Social Media is very important, especially nowadays with Google's constantly changing algorithms. It's not enough to just depend on organic searches for traffic, when actually a lot or the majority of your traffic you can be in control of by using social media. Twitter, Pinterest and Facebook are huge, and if you get an actively engaged audience, you will find that they keep coming back for more and will keep spending time on your site. The amount of recurring visitors as well as the time they spend on your website are all factors that Google looks at (social signals) to determine the value you have to your audience. The more social signals Google detects, the more perceived value as well. Apart from Google, social media is also a great way to diversify your traffic, so that your business isn't subject to the whims of the search engines....Hope that helps Marjorie

          Hello
          friend I agree with you..

Tweeting content helps it get indexed faster, cutting indexation time by 50%.

High levels of social activity give search engines important triggers that you're authentic and valuable--and that makes your domain will rank higher in results.

Shares help trigger the freshness portion of Google's search algorithm, which means more shares can bump up your ranking.

It's say its very important. I relaunched a blog that had basically no traffic and have got some good rankings and results using only social marketing.

I wrote up a full summary of my first week after blog relaunch here: How To Relaunch A Blog: First Week Of Social Marketing

I'm planning to do one for the whole first month in the next week or so which should be interesting.

Long gone are the days when internet marketers can only rely on "traditional SEO" linkbuilding etc., etc. These methods can still be effective but there are a whole lot of hoops to jump through and extensive testing to uncover what really works with all the turbulent algorithm changes that have come into play.

The new wave of SEO is SocialSEO because Google and other search engines have realized flaws in the way they rank and analyze sites. They have come to the realization that with traditional SEO it's just too easy for SEOs to game the system. This is why they are leaning more toward keeping an eye/ear out for a brands Social Signals.

What are people saying about you on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and other social networks? Are they sharing your links and messages? Are you getting a lot of negative or positive reviews? Are people actually commenting on your blog posts - or does your blog look like a ghost town? ...and so on. You see, these things all have to do with 3rd party accreditation i.e, what others really think about you.

Yes, search engines like Google now want to hear what the PEOPLE have to say about you - not so much what you have to say or manipulate about yourself. With SocialSEO it's just harder to fake the funk than with traditional SEO like linkbuilding, keyword stuffing and other charades.
