What is the best way to successfully engage people in Social Media?

Hey warriors, it can be difficult to get twitter and facebook followers. So my question is what are some of the best ways to engage people on Facebook and Twitter whether or not they are already following you. I know that posting videos, quotes, your products & services,asking quesitons, blog posts and such can be a great way to get people to like and share your content, esp if it's valuable informational that people can learn from.

So what is the best way to stand out and get the attention you deserve from these social media platforms?

    One thing that works is to take rifleshots instead of doing a shotgun approach. What does this mean? Find people who are very influential in your niche and engage them in an @ exchange or send them messages via FB. Of course, these messages must not be spammy. How? Talk about WHAT THEY DID or POSTED. Don't post garbage like 'good job' etc. Instead, focus on asking QUESTIONS or sharing insights that either support what they do or call them into question. People like being challenged. When they respond to you, you become more credible. The more you do it, the more you become an authority.

    Of course, this isn't easy or convenient and that is precisely why you should do it. Less competition since most people are lazy or are looking for shortcuts.

      Thanks writeaway, I'm actually a web designer but my real passion is health an fitness as it has been for over 10 years now. I am trying to build up my Facebook & Twitter page. I have already contacted a few influential guys in my niche, still waiting for a reply so will see what happens there. Thanks
