Facebook Ads CPC Vs CPM Discrepancies

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to check if anyone else has experienced the same issues I've been having with Facebook advertising?

I am running an ad using CPC with a click-through rate from impressions of 0.031%. But when I duplicated that exact ad (nothing changed) on a CPM basis the CTR dropped to 0.001% pushing what I actually paid for the clicks up by over 500%!!

I wondered if it may be that the CPC campaign had some sort of traction and was being given favourable positions or something. So I created another CPC advert from scratch with the same settings/image/copy and it achieved a very similar CTR.

This leaves me with the conclusion that facebook has in some way shafted me! How can it be that simply changing the bidding structure to pay for impressions over clicks pushes the CTR down so much?

Anyone know why this might be ore had a similar experience?

Try optimized CPM are chose a very targeted audience.

    1. Click oCPM
    2. Target audience of specific as possible (depends on your goal/niche)

Facebook will only show the ad to the people who are most likely to take action (click) on your ad and perform the action you are looking for (like/lead/sale etc)

Anyway the CTR and ad cost totally depends on your target audience (country/age/niche)
