How Does Pinterest Turn a Dollar?

Been studying Pinterest a lot in the last few weeks. Wasted my money on some e-books, if it was on the internet I read it. Finally through trial and error figured out how to actually get Pinterest traffic for my business.

So spending a lot of time focusing on one thing, you kinda get a blind eye. However, I noticed this evening... How in the world does Pinterest, the site, turn a dollar?

No advertising, I only get e-mails that say "look at these pins", doesn't cost anything to get an account. How long is that going to last? I can only imagine what Warrior Forum costs per month to run, could you imagine Pinterest?

Any ideas?

They are actually not profitable right now, but are introducing paid pins slowly. Eventually, it may become profitable.

Pinterest is following in Twitter's footsteps, getting site users addicted to using the site for free and then slowly will introduce paid services. Over time, it might not be uncommon to have a free and premium version of the site, as you see with Hulu, (which once offered all premium content for free).

The reason for the question, is kinda the answer within It self. However whenever why ever any MAJOR site has gone from "Free" to a paid option, the potential for profit by its users goes through the roof for a period of time. Google was once free, Adwords changed that and ultimately changed advertising as we know it on the internet. Twitter, the same thing.

I am laying my last dollar down to say that when Pinterest monetizes, It will be revolutionary. To get in as soon as it happens will be financially rewarding to huge proportions. Historically the model is there, Its simply a matter of seeing when it happens and jumping in as soon as you can!

      Hope that Helps!

You'll need to create entire boards of related pins and then use Pinterest as a social networking site to get others who will repin your photos. That's key to getting traffic to your pins and even more traffic to the pages where the photos came from.

First they were using skimlinks which converted part of the affiliate links to theirs to earn profit

Now they have recently started advertising option for few pinners, it is at initial stage, and they are planning to take it to next level pretty soon
