Using facebook to sell items...

Was thinking about setting up a facebook "store" to sell the items in my closet I don't wear anymore. Wondering about how to make the payment process easy though. My first thought was obviously paypal, but don't people need to already have a paypal account before they can send me money to MY paypal account? Or is there an easier way to do this I'm not thinking of. Thanks!

Why not just sell your items on Craigslist or Kijiji (depending where you're from) and use the Facebook page to draw more attention to them?

Can't find the time to build links even though you know it's one of the #1 ranking factors?

I had never even heard of "Kijiji" before this! But I just checked it out and it doesn't look very promising for my area.

FB just seemed like a good idea because it's something I know and am comfortable using, and I can create fb ads that target my area.

what are you trying to promote in facebook..

best way is to start with facebook fan page and increase your Facebook likes via Facebook Adwords and provide your phone number as well cause people calls and ask question, the more people calls the more orders you will get..

I doubt that you'll find buyers on Facebook. People go to Facebook to socialize and not to buy, but not to say that you can't turn fans into buying fans with some time and a built up trust factor.

Don't exactly think that they would be interested in used clothing unless it is vintage or maybe some Harley Davidson apparel.

Well a friend of mine on FB just started this... She only has 100 likes on her page and has already sold $300 worth of clothing... So I thought it's at least worth a try.

But I still don't know how I'm going to integrate an easy payment method...

I don't think that is necessarily the case. There is always someone out there that would be interested in second hand clothes. We don't all have the same views.

However I would use eBay to sell the clothes and then FB to advertise/promote them.

People dont need a PayPal account to pay through them. They can pay with a credit card.

You should consider doing a fan page for this. Facebook frowns (thats a nice way of putting it) on users doing any type of business on there personal pages.

There are several apps out there that let you build custom tabs, including sales pages with PayPal payment. Check out the WSO section of this forum, there are some in there.

I haven't used it, but I know in our fairly small community someone created, i guess, fan page where local people can post items for sale. I watched someone use it once and it is kind of hard to use because you have to scroll through a news feed to find what you are looking for. The way they keep it spam free is it is a closed group and the lady that runs it has to approve you.

Does anybody know of a WSO that teaches what I'm describing? (How to set up an "online store" using fb pages and paypal) I might be interested enough to buy it!

This was sent to my inbox today, with the subject line "Instant Affiliate Stores on FaceBook?",
it's the JVZoo Product of the Day.
I'm not affiliated with this and I can't vouch for the product at all but take a look and make your own judgement.

I would approach this in a different way. Why not set up a group where people can come to buy and sell their items. Items can be purchased either in person or through PayPal, and hand delivered or shipped, depending on what the buyer and seller agree on. You can invite your friends who live locally to join the group, then set up a few simple ads targeting people who live nearby to join as well. You'd be surprised how fast these types of groups can grow, and how easy it is to sell items through them.

That's a fantastic idea and all except how would I make money from it? I'm trying to figure out a way to use fb so ME personally can benefit from it, not all my friends that I add to join my group.

Facebook is becoming very popular that is why people are using it as marketing tool. But sometimes there you will find some original deals and sometimes it could be fake ones. So choose wisely between them.

If you're only looking to list on FB and then sell stuff, you may wanna check out ShopLocket.com

It basically lets you share payment links, collect payment info and let people order stuff from you.

So you could create a group or page, only allow yourself to post to it. Then, add items you wanna sell and include the ShopLocket link to buy it in the post.

That JvZoo product looks interesting too - I'd look into as well.
