How to get back links

I have a website at Socializ - The Social Search Engine which is a social media search engine, nothing special and a bought php package.

However, as a newbie I was wondering if anyone could tell me how I can create back links to the site to improve its exposure.

It has only been up this month and currently has not back links or social media shares.

Also, I still need to add some social media sharing buttons to the site.

One last question, will a blog attached to the site which discusses social media (from a non-profit making perspective) help to raise the sites profile in search engines if I use key words effectively?

Thank you.

If you try to make link from social networking sites, then these links are not helpful. Almost all social networking sites provide you nofollow links, these are links are useful only for traffic, not for ranking. So, if you're looking to make a backlinks, then submit your website in top social bookmarking sites, done local listing, write article, press release, blog post and submit it in their respective website with anchor text link.

There are tons of blog posts on building backlinks. I recommend that you check time stamps so you are using the most up to date info. Also read a few posts and pages and compare what is being said this will give an idea of what is good and where to spend your time. Here is an example of a post ive just pulled up in the search 10 Ideas To Build Quality Inbound Links and Increase Website Traffic | Bourn Creative . You dont want to waste time building links only to find they have no or very little impact. A bit of research now will save a whole lot of heart ache later on. Failing that give it to a pro to do for you.

If it is a social media search engine, I highly recommend you to go after all kind of social media presence. I don't see why you would need many backlinks, as I guess people are not really looking for "social media search engine" in google. Most of them don't know that such thing even exist.

Therefore in my opinion you don't need many backlinks, you need many social signals, from all kind of social websites. Create profiles everywhere and start working daily.

Check my signature or PM me if you need help with that.

Well, if you try to get backlinks through a social media site then there is no point because most of the social media sites provide you with no follow back links. However, if you get backlinks through some SEO techniques like Social bookmarking, blogging, ad posting, article submission etc.

It seems to me that Google may be focused more on social signals rather than backlinks. Lucky for you your site is all about social. I would just focus on the buzz factor of your site because social communities might really appreciate what you have to offer. And you'll get backlinks naturally anyway.

Well, if you are looking to get backlinks to help with search engine rankings, that technically isn't white hat. Anything that is done to manipulate Google's rankings and results is technically blackhat - whether you do it manually or use software to automate it.

The only true white hat solution is to create quality website with proper on-site, write the best content you can and hope Google likes it as well as other people so they link to it. Good luck with the last part of that in this niche.

Now, if you are talking about less spammy ways of getting beneficial backlinks that have less of a chance (nothing is 100% safe) of throwing red flags to Google that you are trying to manipulate their all-powerful algorithm, there are quite a few.

The key is to get links on well trusted sites. I try to find sites with a TF (Trust Flow) and CT (Citation Flow) of 15 or higher. Also, if the site's TF is higher than its CF, that is even better. I try to stay a way from sites with CF extremely higher than TF - this could be a sign of spammy links pointing to their sites.

    1. Guest Posts - You write an extremely helpful article on someone else's site without keyword stuffing it. Also, co-citation is something to consider (linking to a non-competing authority site).

    2. Create a Private Blog Network (PBN) - Something I have been experimenting with recently. I have purchased 5 expired domains that had decent PA, CF and TF. It is rather hard to find expired domains in the online gambling niche that haven't been spammed in some way though. But you can't spam your own PBN. You need a mix of articles without OBL as well as practicing co-citation. I also have a few "friends" that I have allowed to post on my site to diversify the OBL on the site. This has also helped me find guest posting opportunities as well.

    3. Create Videos and post on YT and other video sharing sites - Most of these will be nofollow links, but they are still links and account for something. Not to mention, if the video does well, it could drive targeted traffic to your site.

    4. Web 2.0 properties - I think this tactic has been over done over the last few years and I am shying away from it. However, if you can create a quality site on one of these properties with quality content, it could help. But people need to be linking to it and spamming it will only hurt your main site.

    5. Infographics - Either create an infographic or have one created for you. Then post it on image sharing sites and as well as your site. This is on par with #3 and most of the links will be nofollow. Infographics are also known as good link bait. But I have found it extremely difficult in this niche to create any content that another site will link to out of the goodness of their heart - even if it is quality and helpful.

There are many more, but if you are creating content for backlinks, make sure it is high quality on posted on quality sites. You really should focus on creating click-through content; meaning someone could actually read the content and, if interested, be compelled to click through to the article/page on your main site. It is all about user-experience. If you are providing quality content that a reader finds helpful, it should be less of a chance of being penalized. But I can't promise that. You never know what Google is thinking with their updates.

    Good Luck!
