I need help with my new weight loss fb page! (please)

Hi guys, this is actually my second ever post here on the forum!
I'm Martie (Martin) from Northern Ireland if anyone is interested!

I have recently made a weight loss facebook page called "I want to lose weight", I have paid for some advertising through facebook ads (using a voucher bought from fiverr!) and now have 523 likes with a decent amount of engagement, 1 picture got 18 likes and 11 shares (but to be fair it was a funny meme style picture).

Note - I targeted Women from the US between the ages of 25 and 50 with the fb ads.

I am now wondering how to take this further, like how to monetize it? If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated, also is 523 people enough to think about monetizing or how many would be a good number to start?

I do apologize if this message is a bit of a "noob" question but I am pretty new to all of this!

    Its kind of hard to monetize 523 fans. Well if you want to make any kind of actual cash it is. Keep the ads going and get yourself up to 5K or so. Then start thinking of how to monetize the page. Also while your building your fan base make sure you keep posting regular / quality content.

    Like Bruce said, it's hard to monetize small pages. Focus on growing your page before worrying about monetizing it. But once your page is larger, promote Weight loss products on Amazon or promote CPA offers.

    It's not just hard to monetize 523 fans page. It would be plain stupid.

    As soon as you start monetizing the page, you will lose a lot of your following. Your Best bet is to get AT LEAST 10-15,000 fans, and then start thinking about monetizing. Seems like ads are working for you, so why don't you keep on doing them?

      Nice one man thanks, the ads, are actually working out quite well., I got them down to 6p each but really they were working out at less than that because of the voucher I got from fiverr! haha I don't know if I have the money to grow it to 10,000 tho. I recently read an article about doing swap for swaps maybe I'll try that! haha

      If anyone has a Facebook fan page with 500+ fans in a non direct competition niche (maybe something like low calorie cooking or fitness) that would like to do a swap for swap just send me a private message! (by swap for swap I mean you share some stuff of mine and I share some stuff of yours!)

      Any tips for CPA offers? I am currently signed up with Max Bounty.

    Hey, dont worry, it isn't a Noob question.

    What you should have done however, is thought of a niche that you could monetize through facebook, and thought about how you could monetize it before you spent the money. That way you could have done market research, like what genders/ages buy and tailor the campaign to your results.

    That being said, i would promote a fitness product on Amazon (more "lady friendly" than clickbank in my opinion)

    Remember to not go overboard on the promotion, you must keep the fans happy, it is vital!

      To be totally honest, I just jumped right in after a recommendation from an online marketer I listen to in regards to the "weights loss" (he said it's a good niche to try out first because there are always hungry buyers) and then "middle aged women" (so I picked between 25-50 years old), it only cost me $20 to get the 523 fans on my page because I bought a voucher off someone for $50 ad credits!

      I wasn't planning to do too much promotion, sort of maybe 1 monetized post for every 10 or more that aren't (would this be a good ratio?)

    One thing to consider is that you are in one of the most saturated niche areas so the chances are that the offers you eventually try to punt to them they would have seen before and ignored or bought, either way no help to you.

    What you need to do is put yourself to the front of the queue and by doing that you need to give them reasons to come back to your page, ie quality content, interactable (not a real word btw lol) content not just useless drivel they can get anywhere.

    Also when you get a bigger audience run an ebook special and get some email addresses, you will need an autoresponder, that way you can sell and sell again to them via email instead of littering you FB page with ads etc.

    Had a quick view of your page(s) and a point I made above you have done on your own FB page but not the weight loss one so I assume you will be doing that when it gets bigger?

    Seemed Jan 10 was a big day for you lol

    Assuming that was the ads coming into play? Tbh I would keep doing what youre doing. Keep interacting with the audience and you cant go wrong. Put yourself in their shoes, what would you want to see but remember the point of the page is I Want To Lose Weight, so give them some helpful hints now and again mixed in with the funnies.

    Although you have already done more than the average person as you could probably tell from some of the competitor pages that have <100 likes lol

    P.S A little hint, some, a minority of people on the net are scrupulous and will try and rip you off, hack you etc. Never allow your personal info on the web, always pay the extra $2 for private domain reg. That way I wouldnt know you stay down the road from the wifes parents in Lisburn lol

    Weight Loss is a very competitive market and there are lots of people promoting the niche all around the internet. What you are doing is definitely good, but I would suggest you to invest until you make 10,000 fans. After that stop investing and focus on posting quality content of different types. Informative, funny etc, keep mixing them.

    Well, you told us what the fb page was called and how many fans it had so it wasn't hard to find it. Re your other page, which I can't remember just now as I'm on the iPhone, but I clicked the YouTube channel link which was dead btw, then done a search on the Whois of that domain and voila, came up with your details.

    Seen the fb page on your IM site and it has the email collector in the welcome page which is was I meant when I said you have done what I advised on the post above.

    Hope that makes sense

      haha fair play, you really put your homework in! haha so did the like gate work on the page then? haha I can't remember what page it was either at the minute to be honest but I was trying to get it to be a like gate and not an email collector but thats awesome cuz I didn't think it was working! haha

    Promote products once you get over 10,000 likes but don't over promote or come off as if your only there to sell products, no one likes an in your face salesmen.

      I agree to wait until you have a much larger following to monetize on your page directly. That being said, depending on how much of a budget you have you could run traffic directly to a good converting offer through your page with a squeeze page in between FB and the offer. That way you can build a list and get likes at the same time. And if you have your funnel setup properly you can be making back your advertising spend to be able to reinvest in page growth as well.

    Maybe you could try creating viral post "for every like Mary will loose a pound, follow us to see Mary's journey" and then put "Share and Like" in the post. Something about your post should coax users into liking or make them feel obliged to "like" your post. When I say obliged it is those posts that would make you feel guilty for not liking or sharing. I don't promote facebook pages but I use facebook often and these are the things I see.

I am not laughing AT anyone or because I am not a serious person, I laugh because I find this whole experience fun, if you find me annoying you don't have to read what I post but did no-one tell you when you were younger that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't.......I won't even bother finishing cuz I know they did! haha

            I'm not trying to be an ass. I'm trying to point out that if you want to use a business forum to build relationships and sell products then you'll want to behave professionally. When you sell your first WSO or try to find joint venture partners or affiliates they will possibly go through your past posts to see just how professional you are.

            People try to be careful about who they associate with. I'm trying to point out that you want to be the person they choose to buy from.

          Whats annoying is people who make silly remarks about a persons posting style or way of speaking. Its pointless it contributes nothing and it might hurt someones feelings. Plain and simple, there is no reason for that kind of comment at all.

    For now, focus on updating your page as often as you can and keep your followers updated. Weight loss is one of those interesting health niche that is not hard to maintain. If you are able to get a thousand followers then I'm sure you can monetize it by then.

    Like others have mentioned, don't focus on monetizing - first focus on giving. Give great content. Curate articles/videos if need be. Give value away. People will become attracted to you and your fan page. Once you gain their trust, they will open their wallets!
