Promoting Local Club Through Facebook Tips?

Hey guys!

Were doing a bit of work with a local nightclub. Its our first time dipping into Social Media Managment so I am looking for all the good advice I can get!

It is a student nightclub primarily and already has 5000 fans. My thinking is alot of those fans have left university or are not around but around a half should still be relevant. The page is dated and we are getting some branding work done to freshen the image up.

what are some of the best ways to getting promotions shares and increasing the engagement of the fanbase? We don't want to come off as too spammy or "salesy" - more like we are just trying to listen to the fans to give them the best night possible and also to share events etc..

It looks like we'll have to "boost" our posts as Facebook appeared to have reduced the chances of appearing newsfeeds aswell.

Any tips, tricks or things we should look out for is very much appreciated!

Organize special parties, and events. Then create events and invite them.

Use the inbuilt advertising to make your audience talk more in your page.

Put some posters in the nightclub itself and ask them for a like. Also you might want to hire a photographer and make photos of your clients then upload them all in FB, people will start tagging themselves.

You could share a printable voucher for a BUY ONE GET ONE FREE Night, and you could also take a photo of your nightclub name, next to a pile of prizes, like a couple bottles of spirits, and ipod, maybe even some vouchers, and ask people to share it to win it. It will get your name out there pretty fast. I see it all the time.

To elaborate more on seonutshell's point, you can have posters with QR codes in the washrooms and at the front door that they can scan to get their free drink or free entry for a like on the page to drum up engagement. As far as posting mix it up with text(questions about what they want from the establishment) and photos from people at the club. To gain more reach get fans to submit photos and tag their friends in it to bring more people back to the page (You could make a photo contest of some sort with a nice prize and then you dont have to worry about content.)

Hope this helps, and other questions send me a pm

    This is all good advice.
I worked doing promos for clubs for years, before most club-owners knew that Facebook was a goldmine for getting people into their clubs.
When I realized how viral it can get with an event, I had a bit of a eureka moment - through trial and error, lots of sweat, and finally with the help of some software I got over 400 people into a club on a winter weekday in a major European city. That was a big moment for me, and I made a grand that night.

There is a lot that can be done, also the events themselves at the club need to be decent quality, but most importantly in the offline aspects to this, you have to pitch the right people for the club and it's events.

In terms of what you can do online, in the social sphere and hybrid approaches (like QR) there are many, many options. Photography is huge. Video is even bigger.
SEO is something important too if in a city and the club has mass appeal.
An app is another option. But even if you just do Facebook and nothing else, there are ways to make the club owners handsomely rich, just make sure you get a slice of the action.

      Thanks for the great post!

But how do you get a slice of the action?

      How much do you charge?

Do you charge a flat rate or based on the number of people who actually turn up at the events that you have promoted?

Thanks for the advice.. the page isn't in as bad shape as first feared... They do advertise on it but really bad and haven't updated in 85 days...They still have likes trickling through however which means we should be able to get something going - there is 7,600 fans so it surely should be possible.

Looking forward to this as a challenge ! We can measure our results from previous efforts.

All help in how to maximize publicity and what are the most effective strategies is appreciated!

Your best bet would be to first figure out who your target audience is. You already know that they are college age students, now figure out more! Go down to the club and see what type of kids hang out there what things do they like. Also look at the people who have already liked the page.

Now align yourself with pages that are similar to the pages your audience likes. This will really help you to "speak their language". By this I mean click the gear symbol on the upper right hand side of the page and choose to use Facebook as your page.

Now you can like pages as your page and become part of the conversation.

Once you feel like you have a vibe down for what your target audience wants to see create a calendar and follow that. For example Monday post a "Mime" without any sales, Tuesday post something else funny and remember to not try to sell the night club at all until friday come.

Now your fans are engaged and they know you're their to be friends not just to sell to them so they actually see your post.

Also engaging your fans helps your posts show up more often to your fans. The only people that HAVE to boost posts are people that aren't creating engaging content, aka their content sucks.

    Hope that helps!

you can also create a fanpage for your city and attract people with news, stories, memes, pics etc. then promote the event to the fans of the page. and you can charge other places for a promotion on your city fanpage.

That demographic will do wonders spreading your posts for you. They are super social media savvy. BUT you have to make sure the venue has exciting events and promotions that are worth talking about. Trust me, nightclub marketing is my baby

So it all starts with the venue, their events, and promoters. From their make sure you have great visuals to work with and can use Facebook to share.

Quick tips? Get a photographer in the club every open night and take great pics of the people. You post them as albums and boost the post asking the fans to 'tag themselves'. Some will some wont, but you will definitively get traffic. This demo loves pics (look at the selfie! Lol)

Also don't post just event info, think of the page as a magazine, make sure you add great content and conversation as well. No one would read a mag with 90% advertising so don't do what most club owners do by posting their Friday and Saturday poster every day. Great articles, YouTube links of great music videos, pics of the parties, etc etc

Feel free to pick my brain

You have seen some very good advices above.
Whenever you have any sort of events in your club, make sure to share that event, photos of that events on your face book page. This will help you to reach to the ex students of the university and your page will be getting more and more fans.
