Help with content marketing/converting to customers

Hi...my company has been producing content, and we're trying to work on how we can use that content in our marketing to drive traffic to our site. Anyone out there using content in this way? What are your best tactics?

You probably better to go for article marketing and article syndication.

Try infographics, content syndication is also good, any kind of syndication since it's other people sharing your content.

Publish a whitepaper about a topic that people in your industry would want to read.. These will get republished by others in your industry or trade. You might even offer a copy to a site owner who shares your similar niche and ask for a review on his site.

All these responses miss the bigger picture. The quality of content matters and type of content, but you could have all these and still be doing it wrong.

Look at your analytics then discover how people are arriving at the content. You want to identify their intent. Then compare their expectation with the content then with what you sell. All three need to be aligned.

However, that's not the complete picture. Alignment isn't fully necessary because content marketing is not about capturing someone the moment they're ready to buy. What about attribution. Content doesn't have to directly result in sales for it to be profitable. It can get you a subscriber then they buy from you 2 months later. Track it.

Depending on the nature of the material, I have an idea that may be perfect ... (or I may be barking up the wrong tree - but worth exploring I think).

    I'll send you a PM.

I agree in part with Joshua. However, if your content is targeted around one particular niche a blog will naturally gain authority in said niche.

A blog with high authority (which producing quality optimized content accomplishes) automatically ranks for the targeted keywords based on relevance and quality alone.

Of course off site SEO is still necessary for high competition keywords, but your blog will also rank for related keywords to the ones you target should you have high authority.
