Is promoting blog allowed?

Hi Everyone.

I just wanted to ask if promoting articles from my blog related to the forum is allowed or not? What I mean to say is, for example, I write an article on my blog about boosting traffic with Google+ and then I come to the Social Media Marketing forum and promote it by creating a new thread.
Is that allowed? Or should I only post links if someone is in help?
