How Many Clicks, Impressions and Ad Spent for Testing?

How many impressions do you run before you decide whether an ad has a higher or lower ctr than another?

How many clicks do you run before you decide whether an ad has a higher or lower conversion rate than another?

Or do you go by how much you have spent before you decide whether an ad is performing better or worse than another?

If you do everything by cost per action, anywhere from $10 to $100 is *usually* enough to see what kind of return you are getting. Naturally this varies based on the product with more expensive business products sometimes needing thousands to provide a true test. The CTR rate and mainly distractions that get in the way of seeing what really matters to you. If you are doing Google ads, cost per conversion is all that matters. On Facebook, cost per like, engagement, or conversion. On YouTube, cost per view plus average minutes watched. On other platforms, CTR only if you are paying straight CPM (not optimized like Facebook).

      Thank you for your advice!

If I am advertising for CPA $1, am I right to say that $10 is the amount needed to determine the test results? Which means we should be using 10 times the amount per target conversion price to test?

Banwork has said it all. For me personally it depends on the campaign you are running and the offer. Good subject lines and description matters too. When I first started using facebook, the campaign and offer that I was promoting didn't convert. Ofcourse I had clicks but there was no conversion till I had to test different campaigns and offers to determine the winning campaign and offer.

So I suggest you try different campaigns and different offers and tweat the campaigns with little changes at time interval as need be. This could help. Good Luck

I personally would not base any major decisions on anything less than 1000 impressions, mostly because there are far too many things in the real world that are out of your publishers control.

If it is at all possible, try and go for a high number when testing, as it will give you the data to analyse, allowing you to make the most informed decisions.

This is always relative to you current situation, if you are a new marketer and you have a low budget to work with, then you may struggle to get the best quality data from your testing because of your limited budget.
