Youtube competition and ranking

Hi,

I am new to ranking youtube videos,

Firstly, I am going to use an example

Keyword: Cod Ghosts Quickscoping

The link has 1 backlink pointing to it, it is the first video if you search on youtube.

So, here I am looking at ranking in the youtube search, not Google search. Can this be easily beaten since its 1 link, or is it the fact there are 200k views, popular channel?

Also does anyone know of any youtube search engine tools to extract keywords and monthly traffic, like the google keyword planner, but for youtube only?

I found this: https://www.youtube.com/keyword_tool

Thanks!

Youtube & Google are two very different animals when it comes to ranking. Backlinks don't have any effect in ranking on YT itself, in my experience. Your true competition is how well the video is optimized (title, tags, description, filename, etc), views, likes, channel popularity, etc.

You have to optimize your video onpage and off page! Backlinks count in both searches in YT and Google but if you try to rank your video in YT then you'll have to built a strong channel as well. It's always hard to compete against channel with 200K views and a lot of good videos.

Backlinks are NOT different in terms of ranking. Google will slap your site if you spam the hell out of your backlinks.

Google WILL NOT SLAP it's subsidary. Google owns Youtube and you can kill your video with backlinks and not suffer.

Competing against a 200k channel is tough but definitely do-able.

Type in a search on Youtube for "lead generation companies"

Check the 6th video. Should be a thumbnail of a guy completing a puzzle. My video. Notice the keyword isn't non-competitive (lead generation companies) and my views and channel don't nearly match the competition it's up against.

Couple thousand backlinks through Fiverr of all places ($25 total one gig). The rest is up to you to study how I did it. you can also reach out if it seems confusing and I'd be more than happy to show you how to rank videos quickly.

      Hope this helps

Saw this second, but keyword planner is still your best bet for youtube keywords.

You only need to type in your selected keywords in the Youtube search box to gauge competition.

It is also a good idea to test which of your keywords is ranking on Google based on Youtube's authority alone.

Done right with a strong channel and great deep keyword research you can rank the same content on page of both Youtube and Google.

Bumping an old thread, but if you're spending $25 at a time why not pick up something like GSA Search Engine Ranker? It's my go to if I'm going to blast out a ton of links quickly and it varies up the platforms pretty well.

Would I use it on my own sites? Absolutely not. But I've found it to be extremely effective when it comes to ranking "pages" on authority sites since they tend to not get slapped as easily.

Besides backlinks there are lot other things to consider when you are ranking for YT search

Is your video getting reasonable watch time, like are people watching 50%+ video or are just bumping
Likes, comments and social shares also are part of things that help in rankings

You can rank best on YouTube if you get the average watch time of your video high plus get lots of organic engagement plus correctly title and tag your video. If you want to boost your average watch time, YouTube ads are the best solution. If you want to see proof of this strategy, you can see the videos on my channel and find the one that I have ranked second/third on all searches related to "Facebook advertising". You can repeat this process with any keywords and a few ads.
