Targeting YouTube competitors

Hey WF,

My client wants to target the competition using Adsense ads on YouTube. Can we target keywords like "FOSCAM XXXX sucks, FOSCAM XXXX doesn't work" etc with one of our overlay ads? Use their negativity and promote us in positive light.

Thanks,

Sanj.

Typical high competition "Buyer" keywords are:

    'X' Company Review

    'X' Company

    'X' Company Scam

So yes, you can use negative type descriptive keywords to target those buyers who are "on the fence" and looking for the good and bad on a company/product they WANT to buy into.

    Hope that helps

      Hey Mike,

OK, so let's say I am targeting our competitors keyword "FOSCAM XXXX Scam". Can I overlay our product along the lines that "FOSCAM XXXX sucks. Have you considered Product X (ours)"?

      Thanks.

I would never bash another company... ever.

Regardless how much better I perceived mine to be.

I don't "sling mud" to gain the upper hand on the competition I find ways to match what they are doing and then do it better.

Not many people want to read about how a similar product sucks especially if it is only in the interest of presenting yourself in a better light. It doesn't send the right message in my opinion.

You can write for that keyword and mention the areas that people have issues with for that company and how yours differs.

You can also go with it and see what happens but I would never present myself or business in that fashion and as a consumer it would turn me off.

Maybe that's just me, but I doubt it.

We don't want to bash the competition. We want to piggy back off competitor keywords that are negative for example, a customer posts a FOSCAM product review called "FOSCAM XXXX sucks". If this keyword gets enough traffic then I want to run ads over it and promote our product as a better alternative.

It's just an idea along with YT sponsored ads.

I never favor to spread negativity for my competitors. I have to be much better than my competitors in terms of quality and service...

Oh you aren't talking about ranking organically you want to use paid ads...

If your keyword research is accurate and you've done deep targeting then that would be an effective strategy.

I misunderstood what you were trying to do. That isn't necessarily doing anything negative to the competition and I'm sure multitudes of people are having success in such a way.

I don't rely too heavily on adsense I prefer instead to rank naturally and always be visible to my market, but I can see where your strategy would work.
