Discussion: The ethics of using photos on Facebook

DISCLAIMER: To be clear, I'm not saying anything is right or wrong. I just think it's an interesting topic worth discussing.

I've gone through a lot of research on building Facebook pages, including purchasing a few WSOs. They all recommend posting images, as they get a lot more views and shares. The method for the photos is all the same, i.e. go to Google, find some images, post them to Facebook. These are generally not specifically creative commons images, nor are they being paid for through a stock photography website. This is seen as normal within the IM community from what I've seen.

However, from my observations there is definitely hesitation when it comes to taking text content from other websites and posting it. My question. How is it different to take images off a Google search and post them, compared to taking text from another website? Note, since it's for Facebook pages, SEO is not really a factor as far as I know.

Again, I'm not making any judgements on this. It's more that I'm interested to discuss the issue.
