Hubpages/Squidoo question

So I made a Squidoo account, wrote one lense, and realized it'd probably be better in the long run to write for Hubpages, am I correct in assuming this? I figure since Squidoo pays next to nothing for its ad program now I'd be better off deleting that lense and posting it on Hubpages.

      +1

If your just looking to publish content and earn money through revune sharing, I would suggest comparing both websites percentage, take into account Squidoo usually ranks higher/easier than Hubpages, assuming your planning on driving traffic via search engines anyway

Money solely on their respective platforms is what I'd like to achieve. As a freelance writer, I know there are much better ways to make money writing. Thing is I have a few interests that I don't want attached to my name. Yes, I know I could make a website, but I am banned from Google Adsense and its really just not my steeze

I'm not an expert on Article Marketing not sure about Hubpages but Squidoo is dead in the water and shut down thousands of lenses last year. Some who had hundreds of quality lenses were shut down and lost thousands of dollars of revenue.

There are a few guys making good money on Article Marketing.
There is a Warrior on the forum called myob [do a search] who always seems to have good information in this field and it might be a good idea to check out some of his posts.

You could earn decent money with Hubpages revenue share program, where they sell ad space on your Hubs. Maybe even more so than with Adsense. As for Squidoo, there are some seriously avid fans of the site, who swear they are earning big there. But, that could just be hype. Anyway, those people are usually just hobbyists who are active on the site socially and get around to other lenses. So, that could explain their success, assuming others on site are clicking through to check out their Lenses and clicking on ads. Still, if you have to choose, I'd go with Hubpages.

Are you earning well from Squidoo? I'd like to hear from people who use Hubpages as well.

It's far better to build your own revenue stream on your own site. If you are going to write for others, do it for cash -- Demand Media has a pretty good program, paying $20 to $25 per average article and deposited right into your PayPal account.
Well, let's hope DMS comes back strong after they're "done" reworking eHow. They promised to be back with more titles in one or two months. Right now the Find Assignments tab is usually empty, lol.

I've thought of them shutting down the account or the specifics of their revenue sharing. I am keeping a backed up file of each article so I could still use the writing on a website of my own if need be.

I know you will not accept this answer because you seem to have blown it off when others gave it to you.

    Forget both of them.

They will cause you nothing but headaches and give you little return for a lot of work. They can and will pull your articles off arbitrarily.

If you want to make money writing, place an ad on this forum under "Warriors for Hire" and start getting paid. It will cost you $20. I did and have been working steadily for more than a year.

Now this peaks my interest. How well are you being paid for say 500 words? I'm on oDesk and eLance right now.

I'm glad it piques your interest.

I just gave you the formula. I would never would work at oDesk, or any other content mill. I am a writer with credentials and make a good living at it.

The minimum I get for an 500-word article is $25 to $30. But currently I am making more than that. But, again, I was a professional journalist; I have great clips and credentials. I'm not taking on any new clients. I am all booked up.

I gave you the key. All you have to do is use it.

Haha piques. Come on man no need for the passive aggressiveness. You're a writer you know typos happen. That's not bad at all though, my highest oDesk client is only $30 for 500 words.

Quite simply, the time and effort put into making a good page on Squidoo or Hubpages would be much better spent either writing for clients or promoting your OWN product.

Earning a couple of pennies a day, waiting for minimum payouts - it's great if you want to make some small change from a hobby, but to earn a decent living, it certainly isn't the best choice.

I agree. Write articles for your own blog and use those in discussions here or as part of your link building so you are using these higher traffic sites to send targeted traffic to YOUR site.

    Hey

I've had great success with using Squidoo lenses for marketing and getting a good amount of traffic to my site. I don't really care about the ads because yes they don't pay very much but they help from a visual standpoint. They make the pages look more appealing.

    Hope this helps out!
