The End of Free Facebook Marketing? - Businessweek (not an affiliate link)

Where FB leads others follow. I suppose it had to happen sooner or later.

Everything changes. Facebook has a right to do what they want. Before long, someone will come up with some new, slick platform and everyone will swarm to it. So it goes.

This is old news, we now have to pay to have all our followers see our post's. You spend money to build your fan pages, only to have to pay a lot more to have them see your post's. It sucks, but nothing we can do. Facebook has share holders now, so they have to squeeze all the money they can from it's users.

It was inevitable that FB would start charging

    marketers for reach.

They have to drive revenue up for shareholders so

any free exposure for business will come to an end.

I saw this coming a mile away...

Guys, if you really bust your a**, and meet a ton of influencers, and help them out, and they cross promote you, you will succeed marketing on FB.

The problem is, many Warriors just want to game the system, and try to gain followers through lame, low energy methods...without gaining any real influence. Naturally, your posts will fall on deaf ears, but if you promote the stuffing out of others, people will do the same for you, and you'll rock out social.

    Sow. Reap.

Just because there is a 'bump in the road' doesn't mean something is 'ending completely'

Look at Google when it got hit by all of those animal balloons, or whatever the heck you wanna call it

Does that mean people just stopped using Google all together?

Of course not, and it's the same thing with Facebook

I agree with Luke. Thanks for not being resilient and resourceful.

Facebook virtually CAN'T stop me from generating free leads and flipping that into sales. Look outside the proverbial box and stop relying on your fan page and FB PPC for fb traffic.

Get creative. that's how entrepreneurs see success right? Testing, tweaking, resourcefulness, and resiliency?

Hey guys what Facebook is doing is sheer genius. It is an OPPORTUNITY for marketers and NOT an Obstacle. Trust me. I just started a new thread on this topic. Take a look. (Ok... Lets Crack the Facebook Code). Its just the beginning of a discussion that will be ongoing. (Nothing for sale...ever).

That's something Ive been trying to wrap my brain around the last few weeks. Gaining leads outside of fan pages and ppc. Not looking for a free handout but do you have any tips you can share to at least guide me in the right direction?
