I get about 500k visits a day from Facebook and about 200 from Twitter. For some reason Twitter users dont seem to like me :-/

I have not been too actively lately, so I find when I get going again it takes longer to get to where I was. It is best to keep active all the time for the best traffic. When I am active I get about 250 clicks.

As several people have already mentioned, follower count alone is not what's important on Twitter. You need to focus on attracting quality followers who are actually interested in your niche.

Then, you need to regularly provide them with useful and engaging content that they will want to share with others.

You can encourage sharing by actually getting involved with the Twitter community more directly and interacting with your followers. When one of them shares something useful, thank them and retweet it. This will increase the chance that they will reciprocate when you put out an important Tweet.

1,000 highly targeted, engaged followers can get you more useful traffic than 50,000 un-targeted followers who have no real interest in what you say or what you share.

Twitter is a great source of highly converting internet traffic, YES it takes time to create an account but it actually converts and in the long run it’s far more rewarding.
From my Twitter alone I get around 200 clicks when I am active.
Ensure to have quality content.

You need to focus on people interested in your niche and not random folks just to increase your number, while a big number doesn't hurt per se, it doesn't help you either. So I'd focus on getting people interested in your niche.

Besides that, I have to say fb sends usually more traffic, but I haven't experimented with twitter too much, currently building my profile www.twitter.com/1ksociety - going to follow back everybody who follows me - I assume we're all in the same niche here

I personally get around 2,000 clicks minimum per. link posted. I wouldn't say it's bad at all. I have minimal experience off of Twitter though so I can't compare.

If you use twitter often, you will get to more friends and more friends = more traffic. One of the reason why youtube, facebook, twitter are getting truckloads traffic and user signup is because.. there isnt much you could do on the internet.. beside surfing for celebrity gossips, news and surfing at peoples blog and watch their videos.

Quite a bit, and 28K followers. Engaging your followers and RTing others is a key to success on twitter. Keep getting other people traffic and you'll get traffic too

  I did try Hootsuite before and searched for tweets that talks about the my product and did stuff like comment and favorite and it didn't work. Facebook is still easier to get traffic for IMO.

I have 15K followers on Twitter
Traffic isn't awesome but it doesn't cost me much time
to maintain Twitter account.
I would say i get under 1000 visits from twitter per month.
