Undo bought facebook fans

This may sound as a silly question, but I'm going to ask it anyway

When I just started out with one of my fan pages, I got a tip to buy some fans to get started.
Now, two months later (and a lot smarter), I realize this was a very bad move.

Is it possible to undo this and still save my edgerank (and post reach)??

Some lessons are best learned by actually experiencing them yourself

I can agree, definitely a bad move

    I don't believe so.

Stick with Fb ads, you'll probably pay less using that anyway...

AND they'll be targeted, real people

For the longest time, many people here would recommend buying fans just to get a page going. However that has stopped recently because with the reach diminishing, it will kill a page instantly.

I think people are not quite understanding how edge rank works.

It has more to do with how the specific fan interacts with your page than how all fans do.

Facebooks end user is who matters and they want their feed to be filled with the things they want to see.

So while fake fans might be bad as far as i can tell it will have no effect on your engagement with real fans.

      Big mistake here.

      This isn't twitter.

You apparently don't know how facebook spreads your content. That's why I'm going to explain it. (More in-depth explanation in my blog, link above).

Let's say you have a page with 10.000 fans. 500 "real" ones, that you've build from either your site, or friends (even tho they might be "bad" likes already, as they might have liked your page just because they are your friends, but not because they care what you're going to post on that page).

So. 10.000 fans, 500 active, real fans, which haven't been acquired via facebook ads.

Now you post some kind of content relevant to your niche. Now facebook takes this post and shows it to 50-100 fans. We know that 9.500 of your fans are not active and just liked your page because they're paid to like EVERYTHING (again explained this in my post). But they're not getting paid to like your content - besides that - they're usually fans of 200.000 pages or more.

So you posts gets distributed to those 50-100 "fans". But around 47,5 - 95 of those fans are never going to share/like/comment on any of your content. So you might get 1-2 likes.

Now facebook thinks: Well out of those 50-100 people only 1 single person liked it - it must be pretty bad stuff, let's not show this content to any of his other fans.

This means your inactive/fake likes are ruining your whole page activity. Because the initial group of people who see your post, doesn't like it, facebook doesn't show it to your remaining fans.

That's how facebook works, it's sad, but that's it. They're more interested in selling you "promoted posts" so you actually "reach" the people you have PAID for via ads to see your posts. Pretty bad for you, pretty great for facebook.

If the likes you purchased are for fake profiles then don't worry about it. They will go away over time as the accounts get removed.

      Wrong again.

Out of the ~15.000 "inactive" fans I've got, I've lost around 300 in 6-9 months. (Most likely to bans from fb). So if you've acquired a larger amount of fake likes it is going to take AGES to get rid of them. Well unless fb changes their policy on this, but they won't as they're making money with this method.

      a) they sell you ads for your page
      b) they sell you promoted posts to REACH your paid, inactive fans.

We aren't talking about "inactive" fans, we are talking about fake ones generated by bots. You should really learn a bit more about social media before making such long posts (like the one above spamming your little blog) with such inaccurate information - unless of course you're planning on publishing a real case study to prove the information you believe that you know.

the best thing to do is just try and promote your group as much as possible and get as many legit likes, fans. Post awesome content, post awesome videos, pictures etc.. And Promote your group everywhere, try and buy facebook ads and try and get your group more legit fans to filter out the bought spammy ones

    good luck

If you tell me how to buy ads (besides using custom audience, which is against fb TOS) from facebook WITHOUT getting spam/fake fans, I'm all ears. In the current state it's next to impossible.

I'm surprised how many people click on a thread, but apparently don't read a single post.

Ok, some food for thought - why don't you use something like addmefast to get some free facebook post likes and facebook post shares? Do you guys thing this can make the post more engaging and actually show them to more fans of the page? Im curious about your thoughts on that, i think it can work.

As I understand it with addmefast, I like (with my personal account) a page and somebody else is going to like my page in exchange? You end up with the same problem. You'll have more likes, but people are going to use "fake" accounts and like 100.000 pages, in order to receive 100.000 likes back to their page. But nobody is ever going to like your actual daily posts...so you end up with the same "inactive" likes, as if you've bought the likes directly from fb.

Well if the person would LIKE your page and afterwards like each and every of your post, THIS would actually do help you. But how is this supposed to work, people can't like every content you post for 10.000 pages?! What am I missing?

Nope, with addmefast you can actually make users like not your page, but like and share posts from your page.

Here is the flow. You have a FB page (no matter how many likes that have) -> you post an article in your page -> you get likes and shares of that post from addmefast so the post gets more user attention.

So, the general idea is that if a post is liked and shared, it is most likely that FB will show it to higher % of your fans. So my question here is, do you think that flow will work?

Well yes, in theory this method indeed should increase your level of activity and help to modify the facebook algorithm towards your favor.

BUT I'm not sure if the effect is the same, as those people are not fans of your site + they're probably fake accounts as well, so you won't get no viral effect from their likes as well.

Ideally those people had to like your page in the first place and THAN like your posts too, that would def. increase your activity in a positive way.

But having likes/shares from people who are not your fans, should help too - but to a lesser extend I would guess.

It's def. worth a try and also def. better than buying straight up fb ads for your page, it also might be a small help of getting your bloated page more love from the fb algorithm. BUT like I said, don't expect no "viral" effect on those likes, as the accounts are most likely bots or fake accounts.

BUT once again, might be worth a try. If you test it, please let me know how it worked out - but I'm most likely going to test it on my own as well!
