Using surveys for marketing

Hi all.

I'm looking for a bit of inspiration about how we can use the results of a large survey we ran recently (6,000+ responses) in terms of marketing, content and PR.

Does anyone have any good resources or guides we can learn from in terms of the approach we take?

Or indeed any specific ideas?

Cheers,

Martin

Your marketing is really going to depend on what the survey was? Do you intend to market directly to the people who responded (hopefully you have contact info for them)? Are you planning to provide a service or a product?

I suggest starting there. By knowing what you want as a result of the survey and its responses, it's easier to customize your strategy to get to that result.

Thanks for the reply. Everyone who responded is already subscribed to our email newsletter. What we're more interested in is using the results of the survey to get in front of people.

It's a UK travel survey and there's quite a lot of interesting stats we've got.

Conducting a survey is an important part of research and research is an important tool used in the marketing of any product or service. There are many online survey software and tools like Survey Crest that help you make professional questionnaires and other researching tools.

We already have brilliant survey results - it's more that I'm looking for ideas on turning them into compelling shareable marketing content. And then outreaching that.

Did your survey ask them if they are interested in your product or just to sign up to an email newsletter? I find that creating a survey and individually messaging LinkedIn group members works very well. It's labour-intensive but if you include a last question something like "If you are interesting in talking about xxx please leave your name/email/phone no below", it often captures leads.

7,000+ people responded to the survey. It was purely research/informational, not a sales effort.

How have other members conducted marketing outreach for this sort of content?

Martin, you must first cater your target audience and focus on their preferences and needs. Do online marketing campaigns on the related pages to create awareness. People are always uncertain about trying new things so start off with providing them demos or free samples. In this way they will end up spreading the word.

Sorry, you haven't understood my question at all. This is not a sales exercise - this is a brand awareness and SEO project.

We already have persona profiles and a solid understanding of our audience.

We are looking for suggestions for aspects we need to consider in producing a marketing campaign. What types of marketing to consider, who and how to approach, etc.

Martin, as far as SEO is concerned then you should write articles/blogs and publish them on high PR sites plus you can make info-graphics or other multimedia presentations about your research findings and try to make it viral by posting them on reputable and interactive websites from where you can get traffic.
hope this helps! good luck Martin
