Will it work? Facebook custom audience with 50 person reach

I am doing an email campaign to roughly 80 people on my list to promote a particular product to this segment.

As well as the email I am also going to do a type of retargeting on Facebook by using the emails as a custom audience which resulted in 50 according to Facebook.

Will this work? What is the best bidding strategy to get my retargeted ad in their face all the time and get them to commit?

Facebook suggested a bid of 0.02 and I've just gone in at 0.50 with a budget of 250 a day - sounds crazy BUT will this get Facebook to show my ad more often???

50 is too small for retargeting. About 1,000 would work. Your ads will be shown more (frequency) with a higher CPM bid. The problem is that your audience isn't online.

Although 50 isn't much and not even near enough, I guess it's worth trying to see if it helps you out. If I was you, I'd build a bigger audience, but it's up to you.

I agree. The budget really does affect the campaign - I think most folks find this out the hard way when doing PPC for the first time. As above, try and grow the list organically if possible first before spending money on acquiring customers.

    Hi Jake,

As long as you bid more than what Facebook suggested, the odds of your ads appearing will be pretty high. I normally bid $0.20 more than what Facebook suggests. Anyway, the cost per click will be slightly lower than the bid price which you suggested in most cases. Hence, I don't think that is pretty much an issue.

You will want to gauge the performance of your ad based on the actual amount of money that you make from the number of sales. If you are investing US$250 a day and you only get back US$100, then you may want to change your strategy or start with a lower budget to test things out first before increasing your budget again.

I normally test things out with US$25 first. Then if I am getting a return of more than US$25, then I may scale it up to US$35 or US$40 to see whether there is a further increase in my overall profits. If there isn't, then I will leave it at US$25. You will eventually reach a ceiling where there is not much difference in your overall daily profit. Then you will be able to get a good optimized campaign to generate a consistent daily profit based on the right budget.

I feel that a target audience of 50 is too little. If you do the math, you will be getting 500 clicks based on your daily budget of US$250, assuming each click is US$0.50. That is way more than 50. You may want to shoot for a few million people to increase your odds of success with your facebook ad.

Hope that helps. I am just sharing what I have learnt from running a few profitable facebook campaigns.

    Regards,
    Edmund
