Has Linkedin Worked for You?

Hey Guys and Gals,

I've been poking around linkedin today and cruised through some groups and checked out my feed. Everything feels so spammy... Has anyone had success marketing on Linkedin? How have you succeed? What are some of your frustrations you've had with Linkedin? Is it about getting down to the nitty and gritty of messaging connections? It has my mind spinning that is for sure!

Maybe I'm not looking at it the right way but it just feels like a mess.

There are two kinds of LinkedIn users: Professionals and Marketers.

For the former, there is great networking potential. For the latter, they're the reason for the dilution of LinkedIn's significance in online networking. It could have been a great and groundbreaking site, but they let it become a shadow of what it was intended to be.

That is exactly how I feel. It's like when I log on there is just constant garbage... Then I also see people getting congratulated on positions they have had for years... That is one of the more amusing aspects. lol!:p

Ponying up for the ability to send lots of direct messages definitely helps. You can make the groups work for you, but it takes a lot of time. Basically you need to be active in the community and establish yourself as an expert. Dropping links just isn't enough.

On the whole, you get what you pay for.

A great way to capitalize on LinkedIn is creating your own group in your specific niche. This helps you establish yourself as an expert in that field.

Start inviting your target audience to join your group. This will help you build a list which you can actually email on a weekly basis through your LinkedIn group.

I have always got success on LinkedIn. Infact I have a group on LinkedIn with over 16k members. To cut the spam you have to be active but yes LinkedIn is a very good source of traffic and visibility.

With LinkedIn... to adapt an old saying... you must "Sell Soft and Carry a Big Network".

What this means is that if you start broadcasting each and every blagh post you won't get far. If on the other side you try to genuinely help people asking questions the results will be there.

    Cheers,

P.S. The real stuff on LinkedIn happens in the private groups. Of course the challenge is to get there in the first place.

When it comes to building your name to look more good to other professionals, yes, Linkedin is the best room for this. Other than that, if you are using it as a place for marketing, I think it's not the best place to find customers. Take note, most of Linkedin members are professionals so expect that they will just ignore your offer.
They will treat you as a spammer.
