Can you guys give me some feedback please?

Hey,

I've been taking action for 12 days now with affiliate marketing.

I'm selling a dating product, it's between 65-75$.

I got a sale on day 2 but haven't had one since.

I'm hammering out new content everyday.

Here's my traffic.

For the first 8-9 days I just had a basic webpage.

However, I thought it would be good to create a squeeze page to try and build a list.

Here is my squeeze page:

There's some more text underneath talking about what you will learn.

Finally this my posts page:

This is so when I create content and go to social media sites I can link my content.

I've added the 'EasySignUp' plugin to collect E-mails and re-direct to my squeeze page.

So my current thoughts are this:

1.I'm doing well with the traffic. I'm getting people to my website, and I feel I can easily learn extra ways to increase that.

2.I was delighted and shocked to make my first sale on only day 2, but been surprised I haven't made more. 1 sale in 1300 visits doesn't sound too good!

3.In the 2 days I created a squeeze page I haven't got anyone to sign up.

One reason for that could be most of my traffic comes from reddit, which goes to my posts page which is more hassle to sign up to my squeeze page.

You have to enter your e-mail once, and then again when re-directed to my squeeze page.

Basically, I wanted advice from people who are experienced and have gone through the process.

There's no need to worry about motivation, that 1 sale will keep me going until I make it.

I just wanted to know how to take the next step now I've got a sale and a decent method of getting traffic.

Thanks Joe

    Hi Joe,

Congratulations on setting up a squeeze page.

It's vital that you capture the names of prospects before you send them to any affiliate offers. If you send them straight to an offer, you might make a sale or two - but that's it - the rest of the folks are gone forever.

But with a squeeze page you're building your chief asset - your list - which will pay you back month after month. Because you can offer other products to the folks who didn't buy the first offer - and even the ones that did (because people by multiple products in this niche).

In fact, in this niche, you'll get folks who buy everything they can get hold of. So you could end up selling, on average, one product per name - nearly 100% of your list.

Contrast that with getting one or two sales by sending them direct to a vendor's web site (and building THEIR business instead of YOURS).

So, if you have your visitors on your list, you can build a relationship and get them to trust you.

So, now you've gotten your squeeze page up, there are a couple of things you can do to improve it ...

First you need a better headline. I suggest something like:

Discover How To Enjoy An Abundance Of Hot Babes All Desparate To Date YOU!

    or ...

Discover How To Seduce The Hottest Women Around!

    or ...

Discover How To Seduce More Women More Often!

Notice how they all have 'Discover How To', which I've tested and found is a very powerful opener. Also they go straight to the heart of what your freebie does,
rather that starting off with "Sign up ..."

And, whilst red for your headline color is good - your signup button should NOT be red.

It should be an orangey/yellow (take a look at Amazon's buttons). Also I've found that the words 'Instant access' in dark blue work the best.

Also, you want to make the path to signing up as easy as possible. So why not put the squeeze page right there on the post page?

If you can't do that, put the image of the book and the headline on the post page, along with the yellow 'Instant access' button, which them takes them to your web form, where you say:

'Thanks for requesting my 'Seduction secrets report' - just tell me where to send it ...'

    Hope that helps!

    Warmest regards,

    Paul

If you want to stack the copywriting deck in your favor with tricks and hacks producing winners like: "$20K in three days" "650 sold" "30% conversion", then you might like to know I'm retiring and will spill the beans to two people. More info here.

      Hi Paul,

thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate it.

1.I agree with the headline, it makes more sense to concentrate on value rather than 'Sign up etc.'

2.What is the theory behind the yellow colouring? Is there a reason people prefer that or is that just based on experience?

3.I'm not sure how to put a signup button on to my post page.

It only gives you options to do that when you create a new page. Not in the posts.

I installed a plugin to get another signup form on to my posts page.

Finally, I agree that I should remove the calls to action in my posts because it's probably putting people off signing up.

        Hi Joe,

QUOTE: What is the theory behind the yellow colouring? Is there a reason people prefer that or is that just based on experience?

Well, the vast majority of folks don't like red, which is the universal color for danger - although lucky for Chinese folks, I believe - but you have to go on the percentages. The thing is, Amazon would have spent millions testing this, so why not piggy back on their success?

Regarding putting a sign up button on your post: I guessed that might be a problem.

But of you think of that button to take them to your web form page is simply a hyper-linked image, you should be able to do that.

The essential thing is you need to make the path from your traffic to your squeeze page as easy and as fast as possible.

So, if you can't put a hyper-linked button on your post, I suggest figuring a way to take your Reddit traffic direct to a place here you CAN operate the squeeze page.

Alternatively, you could remove the plug in you mentioned and use a theme like Optimize Press instead. That's designed to create a wide range of squeeze pages on WordPress.

          Thanks, I'll amend those things.

One last thing, any advice on what steps to take next?

What would you say about 1 sale in 1300 visits?

Obviously I'm a beginner without experience and the product isn't dirt cheap.

Currently I'm linking my content to social media sites and answering questions on yahoo answers.

I'm trying to build my forum posts up on 5 dating forums to a respectable level before I link my website in my signature.

Are there any other useful ways I can build traffic for free? I'll look at paid ways a bit further down the line.

            Hi Joe,

I think you did well to get that sale. But it's on the principle of 'Throw enough mud against a wall and some will stick' - very wasteful of precious traffic.

But that was before you had the squeeze page.

But now you have that, you're talking sniper rifle as opposed to a scatter gun.

Forum posting and the other things you're doing is actually is the best free route. You could also try and do some guest posting.

And you are doing well not to put a sig up just yet. When you do, you can then send that traffic straight to your (modified) squeeze page.

The product you're selling is quite a high price, so you need to send out six or seven good bits of content to your list before you promote the product.

Also, I always recommend to my clients that they buy every product they promote and do a video walk through (or - at the very least - some screen shots, along the lines of what Amazon does with their books). . Most affiliates are to darn idle to anything more than scrape some bits off the vendor's site and as for actually buying the product ...

So there's your unfair advantage: because you, on the other hand, can now position yourself as an expert in the niche (via your forum posts, yahoo answers and the social media stuff) and act more as an adviser than a sales person.

Boy ... I wish there more like you - folks that actually get up and TAKE ACTION.

            Paul

P.S. Regarding your squeeze page. You mentioned some text underneath.

I guess they are bullet points (or should be). Make sure all the squeeze page is immediately visible without having to scroll down (also known as 'Above the fold' from direct mail days).

Right ok, I did ask about putting calls to actions in all of my E-mails and I had mixed replies.

I did have an idea that I could give them free content and then do a product launch on Dating Product 1 and then give more free content and do a launch on product 2 and so on...

If I were to buy the product what kind of software would you be using?

A video editing program like sony vegas and then something like audacity to record the voice over?

Finally, I need to amend my page so everything is visible as you said.

You want a mix of good free content - at least the first seven emails and then direct them to a review of your first product (presumably the one you've sold one copy of).

Then you need some more good pure content emails (five). Then you can promote your second product.

If I were to buy the product what kind of software would you be using?

A video editing program like sony vegas and then something like audacity to record the voice over?

As I guess most of the products you'll be reviewing are ebooks from ClickBank, you need either Camtasia (you can get a 30 day free trial) or Screencast-O-Matic (free), but more limited than Camtasia).

Both of these programs capture whatever is on the screen, whereas Sony Vegas is primarily for editing video that's been shot with a a regular video camera.

Finally, I need to amend my page so everything is visible as you said. Currently you can't see all my bullet points.

Yup, you need everything visible as soon as they arrive at the page.

One final question, seriously this time!

You talk about a video walk through.

Would you do that over the course of maybe your first 7 posts to your E-mail list?

A walkthrough on different stages of the product and then after your E-mails launch your product?

Also do you E-mails have to lead up to your product specifically.

For e.g. If you do a video walkthrough and then launch your product that's specific.

Instead of maybe doing 7 general E-mails on differents aspects of dating then launching your product.

                  Your help is invaluable.

                  Thanks once again.

                    Hi Joe,

No. You don't even mention the product until you've provided some really good content (and I hope that applies to the freebie, you're giving in exchange for their email address, too).

Think of both the freebie and your first seven posts as a free sample of your expertise.

If you had a guy turn up and said that he's cut your grass and tidy your garden for nothing, you'd probably say yes, right?

And then, when he does a good job, you'd be happy to pay him, next time round.

And you might have a plumbing problem, so you ask if he has a buddy who's a plumber.

                    It's just like that here.

And by a video walk through, what I mean is taking shots of the product - the index and picking out what makes that particular product the right fit for your prospect. But it's all done in one video, which you send them to in email # eight.

And, apart from the fact that buying the product, rather than getting a free copy from the vendor, doesn't put you under any obligation, it's a great selling point. I've even put that in my meta description for affailite products I'm promoting (because that's the section Google tends to show on their search engine results).

                    Here's an example ...

Well you can put something similar in your promo emails (and in the meta tag for the page where you put your review).

                      So something like this:

                      1-7 E-mails pure free value.
                      E-mail 8 - Product video walk through.
                      E-mail 9 - Product launch.

                      Sounds good.

                        Hi Joe,

No, the product walk through is actually where you promote the product. So your promo video could have the subject line ...

Look what I've just bought ...

Who wouldn't open an email with a subject line like that?

Then you go on to say ...

With all this hype about [Product Name] do you think anybody bothered to actually buy the product and put it through the wringer?

                        Well I did.

                        And here's the result:
                        [LINK TO THE VIDEO]

And then in email # nine you get back on the free content again.

                        Warmest regards,

                        Paul

Oh right so you launch the product first and then do the video walk through after. Makes sense.

I remember when I watched Viperchill's free video course he talked about getting testimonials off people to put up after the launch.

    Similar method.

Ok, well thanks for all the advice.

Enough talking, it's time to take action!

Thank you so much for your time and I'll let you know how I get on.
