Growing A Social Media Company

Hello all, I'm new here so just seeking some advice. My wife and I have started a social media management company. We began about a year ago but it's really been in the past 3 months or so that we've been working at growing it and getting it off the ground. It's getting there slowly but surely with some pretty happy clients and our retention rate every month has been great, but we really are kind of stuck. All of our clients are people we met at networking parties, and meetings and while we do get daily hits to our website and run ads on Google, Facebook and Twitter we are kind of stuck on bringing in more clients.

I was wondering if anyone might have some advice? Or maybe give our website a peek and tell me what might be driving them away? The site is pretty basic and to the point on the service we offer. Social Samurais Professional Social Media Management Any advice is welcome, thanks!

Looks pretty good to me, I would keep adding testimonials to the site as you get them! Good job.

For me the biggest thing you could do would be to demonstrate proven results. You don't give any real examples of clients so I have no way of judging your quality. If you can't share clients because of privacy reasons, the next best thing would be to have a kickass social media strategy of your own. Honestly, when I see that your facebook page has been around since 2013, but you have under 500 likes and 20 talking about you, I gotta wonder if you can deliver.

If I were you, I'd work on becoming known as one of the go to experts on social media for small business (or maybe a niche within small business). Your blogs, FB posts, etc. should provide a ton of free and genuinely useful info in order to (1) demonstrate you know what you're talking about (2) hopefully get an article ranked highly in a search engine for a key search term. Obviously for the latter it's gotta be good -- and it's a lot easier once you've got a following to share your posts, so it's more of a long-term goal. Long term, but certainly doable.

    Hey,

The site looks good! I agree with the others that the best you can do is start with a niche and build more testimonials.

One thing to point out for SEO. I didn't find a meta tag for keywords in your code, which means that you might be missing out on some organic search engine placement. There are many social media management companies out there, however, so SEO is a big investment. It's a competitive field. If you wanted to focus your services to a specific geographic location, you could get an advantage in SEO. At least be seen by potential clients in that area.

I would keep doing what's working for you, which is attending networking events where you are meeting prospective clients. I know it might seem like there should be other tools you could be leveraging to automate the process of getting leads to your site, but in the beginning it's really all about networking and getting personal referrals.

If your clients are happy with you, find a way to engage with them frequently, and see if maybe they can recommend you to other friends and companies that might need your services. Maybe a referral program where you give them a discount if they refer another company?

Use MeetUp to find local events where you can talk about your services. There's really nothing better until you can put together a strong SEO and advertising campaign so that more people start learning about your brand.

That's just my opinion. I run a mobile development company, and the sales process is similar.

Keep at it! It can be slow in the beginning.

      Thanks for the feedback guys!

Yeah our own social media networks need some attention, part of the posts are put up by myself, but the rest are generated. We started it all back in Jan of 2013, but it wasn't until around February of this year that we really started to move it forward as a business. Also we focus more our clients stuff then our own, and they have great numbers, so maybe I can put together an infographic showing examples of some of their growth.

And now that we have more clients, we have a bit more funding to use towards advertising for our own networks. So hopefully our numbers will increase for those.
