Alternatives to Fanpages

Hi,

Does anyone know of a site that is similar to Facebook for creating fanpages? I want to build a community but on Facebook any time anyone builds a fanpage for anything: sports, art, science, religion, politics etc. Facebook will block your reach to almost 0% of your fans.

I'm looking for a site that does not intentionally try to keep the reach at close to 0% I'm looking to get at-least 10% reach or find a website that will e-mail my followers of a post and they can check it out whenever they have time.

Does anyone really care about Google+? I know YouTube comments require a Google+ account but I don't think anyone actually cares about Google+

There are some pretty big active communities on G+ so I wouldn't discount it. The G+ crowd is a little more intelligent than Facebook IMO so it takes different tactics to get shares on there than on Facebook.

Have you tried marketing on Pinterest? It doesn't have an algorithm when it comes to showing your post. There's one site I manage that gets a couple of hundred page views a DAY just from Pinterest. It's second to Google when it comes to their website traffic.

Actually, it is something of an 'open secret' that there are considerable SEO benefits to gained from being active on Google+, while it might not be 'cool' in terms of the all night online party crew-it is very powerful and effective from a business point of view-if you think about it which is the largest most powerful internet presence online today? I think you know what I am saying.

Really, it does not matter if you use G+ or any other social media site. Google is more likely to rank content on sites with lots of traffic. Google is programmed to care about action, that's why on this site Google indexes content within minutes after posting.

Dear If you talk about excelling in social media then you need to use all teh below mentioned sites

    1. Facebook
    2. Twitter
    3. YouTube

You need to have a balance in all these sites and only then you can achieve your desired results.

So don't think that you can ignore Facebook as it is a site with 500 million users,

Facebook groups or Google groups are great ways to engage your audience in conversation while putting your updates and content in front of them. And, unlike fan pages, where they will limit your reach, everytime you post in a group, it goes directly to your group member's feed/notifications.

Actually no. Facebook being assholes do actually limit how many people in the group see updates. You have to tell Facebook specifically that you want to see updates from the group you subscribed to.
