Facebook Fan Page likes??

I just came across a facebook fan page. It had 275k likes on it. I just wondering what is the point of all those likes. Can you message mass message every fan? How often do these fans come back. The last post I saw on the page is apr 19, 2014. Can you get their email and put them on a list to promote some products? I just don't know how likes on a fanpage can generate leads.

Engagement! Facebook doesn't drive sales in the way Google search does for example - the intent is not there. Nevertheless, it's brand advertising and general flag waving qualities can't be denied.

Once your page is liked, you can gain some metrics abut your audience and off course, communicate anything you like to them via your page.

can't you can't mass message to your fans, and rememmber facebook has change their algoritm where all your fans can't see your fanspage status post, it depends from your fanfapge eadgrenk, if eadgrank from your facebook fanspage good, your fanspage status post will more much seeing your fans

I personally use facebook to advertise. I specifically use timeline ads. With timeline ads YOUR pages likes are listed. would you buy a product from someone with 10 likes or 275k?

I think it is better to have 1000 well-targeted likes than 15k of likes that you bought just to have them. In this case engagement will be way better and people will see your post on their news feed.

I completely agree with this. And I'd also add that this is true not just for bought likes but for likes gotten through poorly targeted ads, contests that attract people who don't really care about what you're doing or offering, or any other of a number of gimmicks.

That said, it goes without saying that it's better to have 100,000 well-targeted likes than 1,000 well targeted likes, but as Emily stated, the point isn't the number of likes, it's the number of people who actually see your posts (and act on them!) For that to happen your fans have to engage frequently with your content, something that isn't easy but is certainly possible with a high number of fans. Even then, however, so much is driven by the particular post (and probably more than a little luck as far as what content you happen to be competing against). On our FB page (approximately 500K fans), posts are seen by anywhere from 50 thousand people to over 10 million, a range that I find crazy (and often frustrating!)
