Social network marketing for app?

Hi, i'm just a newbie here and really need help for my startup business. My friends are app developers and now just finish an awesome VoiP app with cheap rate. However, as soon as we get to App store, we wonder how to spread the app? Website is a must, and buying ads is an option. Especially, we want to see feedback of users as share experience to others. Hence social media is the best method. I saw App Centre in Facebook, mostly VoiP just use this to lead to their website, but i think interaction that way is not really effective. Do you think people will click like for a page of a calling app? Should I do anything for promotion?

    It all depends on how you represent your app. As this app is new and no one doesn't know anything about it, people won't click like unless the presentation is really strong

    If you have something really outstanding or extraordinary for your app, I think somehow it will work for launching period? Do the app's users have their own community or whatever to share in your app? Unless your page is informative or having special promotions sometimes, I think it will not work.

      What kind of promotions you recommend? If you have an example, it will be helpful, though...

    giving free calls, buy and get something free, give away blah blah... hmm, I think people will tend to think they really gain opportunity to buy something cheap from knowing your page, they will not hesitate to like and follow.
    I think Global Call is somehow a good example (https://www.facebook.com/uglobalcall?fref=ts) they run campaign once in a while, and I think they having 1+1 promotion at the moment

    Okay so I'm a complete noob in this area but as an app user, I would say that betweenthebars has a good point. Make promotions, give freebies, and soon you'll attract people. eg I've never heard of Global Call app that he mentioned but now that i know they're having a 1+1 promotion it gets my attention to check the app. If it's just another VoIP app saying that they have good quality and is cheap i will just go 'meh', i mean every apps will say similar things like that to advertise, no? Go something different and consumer-friendly like the 1+1 event there.

    It is easily done through social media. Use famous social media sites and spread your App information there. Also share it with your friends. Once you have done this, you will definitely get a good result.
