Too many platforms...

Okay, here's my beef. I have 2 of them, actually.

Intro: There are currently about 10 popular social media platforms that we should be posting to in order to maximize benefits of social media engagement, or that is what EVERY. SINGLE. GURU says we have to do.

1st problem: How in the world do you people find the time to do that? The only way I see this happening is if I can hire at least 2 full-time employees for social media ventures ALONE, because that's how long it takes to PROPERLY engage on social media platforms, put out different content daily, talk to your followers, etc. The most I personally can do is one single platform (FB), maybe with a little focus on a secondary (Twitter). Copy/pasting a link from your blog across all social media platforms IS NOT social media marketing/engagement/etc; that's just spam.

2nd problem: Where the hell do you get all the content?! Unless you're posting daily the identical stuff across all 10 social media platforms (which is pretty much a useless strategy), I can't understand for the world of me how do you get enough DAILY content to post to FB, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, YouTube, Vine, Snapchat, Pinterest, Tumblr, Instagram, Flickr, etc. - Bear in mind, it has to be different & unique content across every website for ultimate effect.

^ And that is not even considering all the social bookmaring (and engagement that you should do in there too!) on websites like StumbleUpon, ScoopIt, Reddit, etc...

^ And that is not counting all the additional work in general that you have to do for your business, unless your business is just posting content on social media and that's the end of it (in which case, good for you!)

That is too much social media even if running a single average-sized blog, let alone bigger business, multiple sites, etc.

I personally would focus on 1-2 platforms and that's it. Eventually, I might hire a social media expert to do more work for me, but that's a BIG additional expense, if you want to hire a full-time pro (and not outsource to India).

Looking forward to some smart comments on this, and possibly some tips. I would like some of you guys to especially address yours, as well as other gurus recommendations of "engaging people across ALL social media platforms" advice. Please tell me how exactly do you do that. Thanks!

After posting the above, I've come to realization that I hate every start-up entrepreneur responsible for their new stupid social media platforms that came after FB and Twitter. Those two were enough!

I post daily to six social media platforms and the content is the same. I get by far the most engagement on Facebook, but it only takes an extra minute to post to five more. I do this ten times per day.

As for content, I'm in an image centric niche so I just post images with a brief comment. I turn series of images into YouTube videos. Pretty simple stuff but it generates a truckload of traffic.
