Dip my toes in Facebook waters

Hello Warriors, this is just another newb thread I guess.

I'm thinking of starting a blog to a niche site, I haven't created the site yet, what I decided to do is to work on some social media and start to have a little bit of existence before I start working on the niche idea.

I started with facebook, its been 2 months, and I don't have a single like, (only 1 like by my personal account lol)

I also have a pinterest account , where my niche has stronger activity, I post things there and I follow a bunch of people and I get people following me and repining my stuff everyday, and I find it encouraging to keep at it because I see some activity, even though probably very minimum but its something.

Facebook on the other hand, I post the pintrest stuff on there everyday, with no movement, no one looking at it, Zilch, I comment on other related posts, I liked all the other pages, even repost some of their stuff on my wall.

what am I doing wrong? how can I get outside people to look into the page and have a slight minimum exposure so I can build on that when I get my website?

is it too early? should I even bother at the moment?

I know I can spend some money to promote the page, but I have nothing to really promote, all I'm doing is reposting other articles and blogs from other websites just to get started and build a tiny following and solid page, after I see SOME activity and following, I will start to pay to promote.

but I find it odd that given the traffic facebook gets , my page is EXTRA dead

Any ideas? how do I get a grand total of 2 likes? real likes, not from friends and family

Thanks

  • Why like is important for you?

    It is about money.

Facebook is the world of distraction. People are looking for entertainment.

    Try Facebook Group.

    Put cool things in there.

    Link back to your page.

Thank you for your input, Money is the final goal, as I'm getting started I think "likes" = a following that I can build on and promote products to make money on.

Does creating a group have a better chance of getting my posts noticed? I gotta be honest I thought pages and groups are similar, the only difference is the page is more official in terms of who runs the page and groups are created by fans who might not be associated with the page,

Can you explain to me how is the group has a better chance to grap attention than a page?

I really appreciate your input, please bear with me as I'm very new to all this, I get over whelmed when I research this stuff online, as most of the information out there are geared for people who already started and want to grow, as for me, my page and my whole existence on facebook is a ghost town.

      Thanks again,
      Sam

  • You should also look into your competitors pages and see what they're posting. That should give you an idea of how they get their reach and engagement.

You should also join groups and communities in your niche and interact with the people there. That way you could lead people that belong to your target market to your page.

Take a good look at your page and anyalize what you can improve upon it.

Maybe your content isn't exciting or viral enough. Once you post more interesting content, you will start getting multiple shares...give people a reason to like your page....like a REAL reason. Post valued content, fix your boarders, be consistant

  • You can see who read your post in a group. That is the things.

At least, if nobody reads it, why post?

If they read it but they don't give you a like, two things: ignore and click your link.

If they ignore, the next time you post you will see a drop in the number of seen by.

If they click the link, people may opt in your list.

For a page, you have to find people.

For a group, once you find them with the right keyword ("travel group" - example), you have the whole list of people in there for you.
