Yes, I know they are for entertainment purposes. I just want to know what techniques to use to make them as effective advertising banners in social media.

Should I create a new fad or should I stick to the famous ones? ex. Doge, Y u No, Advice Mallard, etc.

Are they purely accidental or are there some guys whose sole purpose is to make them?

Lemme hear your thoughts. I've got a great idea here that I'd want to turn into a meme.

    Unless you are communicating viral news related to the niche, product, competitor or something.

    There's no bureau of meme creators, I've been a meme creator in 9GAG and I have many flops. I'm just a regular guy as many other creators. Memes come from people who have interesting occurrences, thoughts, ideas or have keen/sarcastic observation skills.

    The system is called crowdsourcing. Basically you offer a platform (like 9GAG) to publish and share memes in which all people who want to participate can do. It's like YouTube in which users upload their own videos and some also go off virally.

    If you can create one you can add a twist to a popular meme, publish memes in platforms like 9GAG to test them out. However promotional memes always look unintentional. Memes that look like ads or promote a specific product without humor will tank.

    Nice insight, I have thought about this lately. I am in the business of promoting video game entertainment and I would like to insert humor in what I do. The challenge for me is to make it promotional without being obvious. Any tips, DamianGil?

    Are flashmobs still a thing today or are they too cliche already?
