What went wrong with my affiliate marketing campaigns on Facebook?

Hi guys,

I'm a newbie to this and would really love some input.

Last night I ran two $25 ad campaigns on facebook. I can see which of the creatives in the campaigns are working best and can focus on improving them next time. I was using facebook ads to link directly to the affiliate offers.

I was promoting:
- A golf product on Clickbank
- A guitar lesson product through their own affiliate programme

Targeting was for online buyers, who like pages around golf (or playing/learning to play that instrument).

The guitar product, I got 39 clicks at $0.64 per click (0.115% CTR)
The golf product, I got 23 clicks at $1.08 per click (0.068% CTR)
Both products average $50 per sale - but I'm yet to make any sales.

Taking the music product as an example, at what point do I decide if this is going to convert or not?
Do I sink up to $45 on advertising the product that is $50 per sale?

Any advice would be appreciated. I really want to make my first sale to prove to myself that this really is possible!

Thanks
r3mo

I hate to not profit from my testing ads. I always go with the profit / 50 clicks formula. And if my ad did not make a sale in 50 clicks, I strongly consider to terminate it. I would also suggest you work with that low ctr. Make sure you are targeting the right people. This ia just the way i work with my fb ads.

Make the ads and the ad copy more engaging to encourage more clicks. You might also want to consider sending the traffic to a landing page of your own design where you attempt to presell the product and sign your visitors up to a mailing list.

This Facebook ad funnel method takes more time but if allowed, it's going to give you infinitely better results as you can then contact those people later on about the products you are offering.

Not only targeting but your creative also does not seem to pull of that good a CTR. Your CTR is quite low which means that the ads are not appealing enough. So give a thought to the creative used for the ads.
