Tips for marketing on facebook for a pre-launch

I am trying to come up with a plan that allows me to take advantage of facebook ads for a prelaunch of a product. Is it better to create an ad that allows a person to click and go to a squeeze page so I can capture their information, or is it better to send them straight to the product when it comes time to launch.

I guess the question is really whether if I need to capture names to promote to a list for a week or two until the product drops...or am i missing something when it comes to the method of promoting for the pre launch and launch of a product? Thanks in advance guys.

I'm currently doing something similar. I'm in the pre launch phase of a physical product.

My goal is to build a mailing list as big as possible prior to the launch.

I'm running a giveaway promotion for a desirable product related to the niche.

    So far results are great.

To answer your question, work on building a) your list and b) buzz around the launch

And when you say creating a buzz, you mean to send emails to your lists that talk about the product itself or do you just tell them that you have something new and exciting coming up and to keep their eyes out for something to drop soon?

    The simple answer is yes.

If you're only a few weeks out focus on building the list then launch day boom. Maybe 24-48 hours before launch hype it up a little. Alex Jeffrey has a good formula for this.

When you send the person to a squeeze page, you can get the email address which is more ideal for communicating with them later. At minimum, you should be trying to get the person to like your Facebook page, even if you don't collect that email address. This could be a way around the email issue, if you just don't want to go that direction.

I firmly believe the best way you can utilise your page to pre-launch your products is to share content for 5-7 days relating to the product, but not selling it. Things such as info-graphic type posts around the subject and benefits of a product or experience that only your product can fulfil. If you generate interest in your followers around the product you have before you give them the actual thing, you will simply be giving them a product they've been waiting for. Remember, being an authority matters a lot in the mind of a buyer.

I agree with Ant. Having clean info graphics (professional) and high level information with good and easy to understand data will help leverage you as an authority.
