Facebook company page - lost login and password details

I'm setting up a company facebook page for a client and have discovered that a page has already been set up. There is no record of who did it, admin details, login or password. It only has 4 likes and no detail. I need to either re-set both login and password, so I can activate the site for the client, OR have it deleted so it doesn't cause confusion. I'd get around it by just creating a new page, but the client is keen to have that exact name as their FB URL. Any ideas??

Is there a way to email Facebook and ask them if you can claim the page on behalf of your client? If the page was created by a fan, but is about your client's company, then you could have it deleted, rather than trying to claim it. You need an active page, not an inactive one that has real likes and content created by yourself or the client that will attract real fans.

I don't think so. The OP would need to get the client to pass on access details.

If this page was created by someone not associated with the client's business, then there is little chance you will be given the login to that page, as the login will also correspond to someone's personal Facebook account. Are you sure the client did not create the Facebook account? If not, then you cannot get into the page.

The Client thinks a previous employee set it up, but no one has any idea who it was, or even when it was. They were surprised when my search turned it up. It's inactive - only has 4 likes (including mine now) and no detail. My inquiries direct to facebook seem to disappear into a black hole .... I think I'm going to have to do a work around, set up a new page on their behalf and then report a duplication. This just isn't a very tidy way of working :-(

It's a shot in the dark, but did you try posting on the page asking the owner to contact you?

Thanks everyone... I'm following up to see if it's verified, and suspect that this will be my solution! Sheesh... sometimes the most straight forward answers are the ones that elude you!
