Twitter complete novice please help

I am a complete Twitter novice and I need some advice. I have 3 notifications this morning
"some people you may know on Twitter" suggesting I follow them. These people are in the same industry as myself. Is there any advantage to me and my e-com website in me following these people?

Could someone recommend a simple Twitter tutorial perhaps on You Tube as I am struggling to get my head round the entire concept. I only want to be involved if it can help traffic to my website.

    You can unfollow them if you consider them as your competitor. To get traffic, use the message feature.
