Facebook comment moderation?

I have it set up so people can comment at my site using Facebook. The way it is set up now all the comments have to be moderated. Is there a way to make it so that the comments show up right away? Is this a good thing? Is spam a big thing when it comes to Facebook? I have never used Facebook and all this stuff is very new to me.

Facebook is the mother of all spam, just open a popular page on fb and notice people commenting "Like this page please..." or "I made one gazillion dollars on this website www.scam.com..." I would advise you to use Disqus instead of Facebook comments for your page, Disqus also sometimes brings traffic that is interested in your site and stays even half an hour (personal experience) and it also allows you to do some link building if you put you website name on your Disqus profile.

This is interesting. Has anyone else experienced receiving traffic like this?

I have to agree with you because I notice many times that people posting the same thing and in-fact we have to keep eyes on our page to check weather anyone not post anything wrong or abuse comment. But I am not only blame to Facebook rest other social networking sites are also holds the same things... Whatever it is but it gives more traffic than others.

Just be sure to heavily moderate your blog if you are going to be allowing comments to automatically appear. This is especially true if you are using the Facebook commenting plug in. Many page owners will be stopping by to comment as their page name. You have to decide if the comments being posted are relevant to your own site or if they are simply a way for another page owner to get a nifty backlink.

I haven't found a way to let them automatically appear. I'm not sure if such a function exists.

  • While it's true that you can find a lot of spam comments on Facebook but it can also help drive traffic. So it's just a matter of keeping an eye on your pages not to be abused by any spammers. Remember that you can easily delete unwanted comments.

Honestly, while its time consuming to get the emails, it might be easier to do it that way than to remember to go through your blog page every thursday for 30 minutes and remove anything inappropriate. By getting the email to approve them before they even go up you are ultimately keeping your page from spammers.

Taking a few minutes to moderate your spam a day is very helpful. If you have a bigger site then maybe things about hiring a VA part time to do this task for you.
