Anyone using LinkedIn successfully?

I just started using LinkedIn seriously, in an effort to get the word out about my copywriting services and get more clients. I'm curious if anyone else is doing the same, and what the results have been?

I read a brief report on how to use LinkedIn successfully, most of it came down to a good profile and mass-adding people with the LION (LinkedIn Open Networker) tag. So, for the last couple of days I've been adding 20-30 people per day - so far I've gotten one inquiry about my services so it actually seems to work.

Let's discuss other methods to make the most out of LinkedIn!

Yes, the best thing to do is join related groups and start a blog about your services, if you are a copywriter then you will have no problems making a nice blog. Then post your blog posts on the groups for other people to read.

You know one of the best ways to get even better connections. Is to view profiles. I agree with the LION suggestion it does work for sure. But remember viewing peoples profiles also shows them that you viewed them. So adding people and viewing profiles will eventually start adding.

Check out those LION groups and just click on some of the profiles and keep doing what your doing but keep in mind that when you view peoples posts and enough of them then they will eventually start checking out your profile. Just commit to viewing and adding everyday and you will start to get more leverage and more people adding you.

    Good Luck

Solid advice guys! I do plan on starting a blog, and hadn't thought about promoting it on LinkedIn - I'll do that for sure. And I'll try browsing around on profiles too, if that works it would be easy enough to semi-automate with iMacros or something.

    Keep the ideas coming!

      Hey Richard,

thanks for this. Think you can mos def kick some copy ass on LinkedIn. People are desperate for quality writers.

Here are a couple of thoughts/feedback after my LinkedIn experiments that may help you.

      1. LION's - ok this can be controversial, but I have find LIONS to be a bit spammy. Lot of quantity, not a ton of quality. I get marketed a lot of things that aren't relevant to me and it clogs up my feed.

So it's a good way to build a big account, but not necessarily your best source of qualified leads/contacts. Worth doing a balance, connect with some LION's but maybe keep it to 30-40% of your connections, max.

      2. I have played around with only using LinkedIn to drive traffic to my blog and it definitely works.

      Few ways I do it.

      a) I have an IFTT trigger that whenever I blog, it is auto-published as a share on LinkedIn (here it is if you want to use it, but you will need to change the text https://ifttt.com/recipes/189635-lx0...te-to-linkedin)

      b) via my links in contact info, surprisingly a lot of people click on "Personal Blog" to find out more about you

      c) sometimes a deliberate sharing calendar pointing to a specific article

Just my adds, let me know if it helps or if you have any ideas. And I should have mentioned, but yep, groups are a great way to build profile, presence, authority etc.,

      Cheers,
      Dave
