Question: What are the best Facebook interest groups to target for ads (in the IM niche)?

Quick question for the peeps who run Facebook ads regularly.

Since FB updated their ad platform a few months ago, taking away fan page targeting, what interest groups have you seen the best return on in the marketing niche?

I'm currently growing my new show The Blogging Show and have seen some pretty high quality (ie. great engagement) fan acquisition by targeting 'digital marketing' and 'online advertising'.

My strategy basically entails, in a nutshell, getting high quality fans to the show's fan page then running ads to the fans (cheaper than running to just interest groups who have never seen me before) with every new show/episode/post, which is optimized for lead gen (kinda like a social squeeze page).

This strategy has built 425 email subscribers in about 3 weeks without really any direct optin ads, just residual stuff from this strategy (they're really responsive too - 52% open rates).

So I'm curious, if you run FB ads regularly and utilize them to drive quality leads and sales in the marketing niche, can you give me a little additional insight into your interest targeting strategy?

Thanks!

Try MLM or Network Marketing Groups. Work from Home or Home Based Business Groups. These are pretty targeted fans that will want to listen to your message.

    Good Luck

We do thousands in FB ads per month and in addition to adding relevant topics as interests, we generally are focusing our ads at people who are interested in our top competitors.

We find these competitors by searching through FB's graph search with the query "Find all pages named "Keyword here"", buzzsumo.com, Amazon.com's top selling books/authors in our niches, and obviously Google. Then we use the author's name, fanpage name, book titles, site names, etc as interests... Letting FB's auto-complete tell us if there is an audience who likes that or not.

Personally, 'digital marketing' and 'online advertising' would be a bit broad for my liking... But getting down to 'Social Media Ad Genius' or 'Frank Kern' or 'Eben Pagan' (obviously only if those are hyper-relevant to your platform) would be our goal.

Keep up the great work!!! ...FB Ads have been very good to us even though we still like we are smack-dab in the learning curve! Persistence and constant testing is key.
