I recently joined a company and will be taking over their social media sites: Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Previously they have outsourced these efforts and the firm they have been using has been posting pretty irrelevant content almost daily for the past few years. My company provides business software and related support, but it looks like whoever has been posting to their social media thought they should post anything "tech" related...from articles about calorie counting plates to pictures of Gameboys for "Throwback Thursday". As a result, they've had no engagement (likes, comments, etc) on any of their posts and their social media comes off as unprofessional and spammy. I'm wondering if part of my efforts should first involve cleaning out the "gunk" from all these old posts.
Should I take the time to delete irrelevant content? Would it help or hurt to start from scratch and just make new pages altogether? Are the effects of these actions different on Twitter/Facebook/LinkedIn?
Thanks in advance!
