I think Pinterest could be very useful for driving traffic to an e-commerce store. It would probably be particularly useful if you stuck to offering a certain type of merchandise on your site.

You would then want to keep your Pinterest boards tightly focused as well, posting quality photos of each item in your product niche that link back to the items on your store.

Then, it's just a matter of building up a targeted following on Pinterest. Follow others who pin photos related to the items your selling, and interact with them on their boards.

When it comes to any type of social media promotion, the key is to always remain highly targeted, and to be active daily on your platform of choice.

    Hope that helps,

    Dan

Pinterest is the "Queen of Social Media Traffic" it is right behind Facebook with regard to the type of referral traffic that it will send your website. You should definitely ramp up your Pinterest Marketing. Very easy to get lots of referral traffic.

Pinterest would be useful for just about any business I can think of, but it would be extremely worth it if the target market of the e-commerce business matches the demographics of Pinterest users.

Here is a snippet from an article with an infographic:

"Studies have shown that Pinterest now commands upwards of 41 percent of e-commerce traffic from social networking sites, and the average Pinterest user has a household income of more than $100,000 per annum leaving behind other channels and becoming the most profitable website for social media marketing when it comes to ROI."

It is not about this service or that service. If you have potential customers that use it, then it will benefit your company. Ask your customers if they use it - then try it on for size to see what happens. If you get good results, continue, if you don't either tweak it and try again or move on. It is about where your customers are - nothing more
