[I'm confused] -- If FB banned UID scrapers, then...?

If FB banned UID scrapers, then how does one select "custom audiences?"
Are "custom audiences" merely the choosing of criteria from the ones FB
offers (as standard)? If so, how is that a *custom* audience?

And, if you ARE (still) allowed to add your own list of gathered (truly custom) IUDs, then where/how does FB expect you to gather them, if you're not allowed to use a UID scraper? If you can insert a custom list of UIDs, how does FB know you didn't SCRAPE them anyway?

Please advise.

    Timothy, it's as simple as this.

    Your website -> Optin page -> Collect email address of a (prospective)customer

    Use these email addresses to create 'Custom audiences". But, I know that FB falters at some stages because, we have been using the UID apers(ahem!) quite successfully for T-Shirt campaigns.

    Well, where could we get thousands of email addresses of people who like TShirts?? (Scr)ape FB pages of tshirt designs and show our ads to them.

    It works for every other niche out there on FB.

    So, the scraping is "banned," but it's not REALLY banned (wink wink)?

    They say they're gonna "ban" like gates in November.
    I wonder if they're really gonna *ban* those either.

    Now there's no wink wink banning. It's banned for real by update to their TOS and throwing out guys who are uploading UIDs.

    To answer your first ever question, UIDs and emails are captured as part of mobile app permissions. So if it's your app, you have those.

      You gather UIDS via pages and apps you own, you can also buy UID lists too from Facebook approved agencies
