How to Sell products on LinkedIn successfully?

Hi all,

I am planing to restart to use Linkedin seriously but this time for selling products instead of providing service.

For this purpose I would like to know if I should focus on posting articles redirecting to my website with products and/or directly send private messages to my connections for this purpose.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Private messages to connections and group members works the best. The challenge is figuring out who to message and what message to send. I get a lot of messages from group members and connections and they never turn into a sale because of generally the low message quality which feels generic. If you can make a really personalized message, you can clean up with messages to connections and group members. Just avoid sending more than 1k messages per day

first you ll need lots of linkedin connections interested in your niche following/connected to you on Linkedin. You should also do your research on groups .related to your niche. These are very important.

I have presently over 500 first connections. The problem Will be that more connections I will have and more difficult (time consuming) it will be to customise all messages.

To be perfectly blunt, I think selling products on LinkedIn is going to be disappointing for you.

Services are one thing, but products are a whole different ball game. The response to service-related sales is much higher, though in comparison to other social media platforms, it's really not that great.

People just do not go to LinkedIn with a buying mindset. They go to cultivate business relationships and drive leads. Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, and even Google+ are all better platforms for marketing.

Unless you have a one-of-a-kind product that business owners will think they can't live without, you'd be better off growing a following and selling on any of the aforementioned platforms.

If you're still set on selling products on LinkedIn, I can't urge you enough not to PM your connections regarding your site or product. It's super spammy and turns people off immediately – ESPECIALLY on LinkedIn. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if you lost a bunch of connections, that way.

I would also strongly advise you not to PM group members, as was previously suggested. I've managed multiple social media accounts for clients that utilized the DM strategy and it failed miserably every single time, regardless of the product or service. Like I said, that user base is just not interested.

You can make quality posts with links back to your website, but you need to sprinkle in other content, too – articles about your niche or posts that engage your audience by asking them a question or encouraging them to participate in a discussion.

That route takes time, but you'll build up a quality audience. Posting on your personal page and making yourself known in groups by posting quality topics and not self-promoting is the only way to go.
