How Facebook Potential Audience is calculated?

I want to target the people who have ALL these Interests , ModCloth ,corsets, Vintage clothing or Audrey Hepburn.

(* ModCloth is a facebook page with about 1 million fans, so my potential audience should be much less than 1 million. see https://www.facebook.com/ModCloth)

But after I choose above interests, it shows Potential Audience for this ad: 9,000,000 people.

I just don't know the logic behind it, What is the logical conjunction between interests?

Facebook calculate the potential audience as below method?
The people who are interested in ModCloth plus people who are interested in corsets plus ......?

Please help, thank you

Only a small percentage of people who're interested in ModCloth are fans of ModCloth Facebook page. They could show their interest in group posts or likes on other pages.

      Thank you!!

What I still confused is, logically, more interests you add, there should be less potential audience.

But when I added the interest of 'Rockalily', It shows 'or Rockalily', and 'potential audience is 21,000,000, much more than previous 9,000,000.

Where did the 'or Rockalily' come from? I meant to 'and Rockalily' to reduce the potential audience for more precise targeting.

Facebook combines the audiences when you add more than 1 interest. If you add a behavior and an interest, it'll combine the two in the way you're looking to combine them, but you're limited to the behaviors that are listed.

      Thank you!
What did you mean 'combine the audiences'?

Say I'd like to target those people who have two interests, the basketball and fishing.

The people have only one of the two interests are Not my target, I want to target people that have two of them.

How can I achievement it with Facebook ads?

You can't do this. The interests have an OR relationship.

So it's: people who like interest1 OR interest2

not: people who like interest1 AND interest2

Hopefully they'll ad this in the future.

      Thank you for clarify.

That means the ads of facebook Interests are totally useless.

People expect to place a precise ads via muliple interests, but they get the expanded audience via multiple interests.
