Hmm, good decision. Promoting your business or site through Facebook is good way to go with.
Create business page, get some good services for increasing likes, discuss something accurate about your targeted keyword by creating group.

    Set up a Facebook FanPage
UPload a good Profile pic and Cover Image With Your website on it.
Post status updates that are a blend of plain text, images and text, and video.
Increase interaction on your posts by writing enough text so that people will have to click the "see more" link
Join groups and follow other popular people in the same niche
    Comment on their updates
Boost some of your posts and run a "likes" campaign to build your fanbase faster.
There are many other ways, but those are good to start with.

I agree, interact with others with similar interests in groups and on other Facebook pages, like other pages and you will get likes in return. Don't spend too much on likes as bought likes are not worth more than fawning popularity and that some people are being reluctant to give the first like on Facebook for some strange reason but would have no problem if it already has 1000 likes.

You're working in the travel niche in a market that's not very saturated (Nepal), so competition shouldn't be an issue.

    Here's what I recommend:

    1. Join Nepal based travel groups, or anyone traveling through nearby regions

    2. Buy some fake fans for $5 or so off a site just to get your fan page's follow count up. These are useless fans but they make it look like your service is already popular. A couple of thousands shouldl be more than enough.

    3. Advertise your main landing page through Facebook ads. With some tweaking you can get clicks as low as $0.02/click.

Target people traveling to Nepal in the next few months

I think you have taken the right decision. First of all create a business page and try to get as much like as you can. Don't go for fake likes. You can increase likes by inviting your friends. You can buy few Facebook accounts with huge number of friends and invite them to like your page. It is an effective way to get real likes in short time. Join groups and pages relevant to your topic and take part on discussion. Also promote your site on those relevant pages and groups.

Start a Fan Page then make sure to put your Fan Page widget on your website. Also, make sure to interlink your posts from your website to your fan page. Be social with your fan page and other Fan Page owners.

Seriously, where does all this come from - always amazed no-one understands the stats behind the statements. Social media is a branding tool not a direct marketing tool - social media only generates 2% sales as a direct channel - indirectly it will generate more as part of a complete channel marketing strategy - but not on its own.

Agreed! i see very low conversions with direct linking on social media however if you link out to a squeeze page or blog with relevant content youll see the difference trust me.

Absolutely, depends on quality of course, indirect sales channel process at work. Saw some graphic about how customers go through the channels to make a purchase - will try and find it again.

I totally agree with a few of the above comments. Join & follow other groups related to what you have to offer. Interact with other members & help out anywhere you can by providing content.

Then I also completely agree with link out from Facebook to a capture page of some sort or perhaps a blog with even more value & content.

Whatever you do, I think you should definitely build a list... Just my opinion & thoughts though! =)

    Good luck!
