I've been saying this for the past 3 years. It is a waste of time to try and get likes for your page. The #1 method to attract business and fans is to like local pages in your market and when they post an update to their newsfeed, comment with relative information. Over time more and more people will recognize you from your participation and WILL click your icon and see who you are and what you have to offer.

If you manage to acquire 1000 likes the hard way, they are the only people who will see you. If you are a fan of 100 local pages and you are posting comments that are relative and informative, you will be visible to over 100,000 people on average.

I have tested this over 50 times in my consulting business with a 100% success rate in increasing sales for local businesses.

One example is a small local restaurant that also does catering and specializes in delicatessen foods. They spent 6 months trying to get followers to their Facebook page. When they began following my advice, they started following local hotspots and posting relevant comments. The first local page they liked had over 4,000 local followers. Within 1 week their fan base doubled.

It works, if you work it smart.

Depending on what your goal is.

Mo Goulet's way is a very good way to engage with your audience.

Getting likes does work if you get targeted likes.

Once you have a descent amount of likes you can use post engagements to make sure all of you fans see what you are posting or promoting.

Only promote posts from which you are going to make money or giving a lot of value for your audience.

This method works very good, you just have to build a targeted audience and engage with them by giving them valuable content.

I recommend posting at least 3 times a day or more depending on your niche.

It can vary from 3 - 6 times a day to get different fans to see your posts because only a small part of them will see what you are posting.

You can use both methods to get better results.

    Great advice Mo Goulet!

    Cheers

Consistency is key for boosting engagement, so I like to spend a goof few hours each week scheduling posts on facebook with the scheduler.
