I like to watch his gameplays. And I think I know why he is so popular the answer is simple, he is the first person as I know, who started gamplays videos, so it's not strange why he got so popular, knowing how popular are computer games

  PewDiePie is not the first person to start making gameplay videos lol...Somehow he clicked with the massive younger / squeaker community and it snowballed from there. I don't really like him, I find him annoying, but he is one hell of a Youtuber, I'l give him that.

449 million x CTR 3% x $0.2 = $2,694,000.

The majority of his viewers are kids (which have tons of free time after school, and which the majority own an Xbox or some kind of gaming console)

My brother and my little cousin watch him constantly everyday, and even re watch the same videos from tablets to desk tops (doubles their views)

Personally i find him very annoying (all the screaming) but his excitement is what the kids like, he is all hyper and crazy. Then YouTube sticks him on the front page and that's what everyone see's. But dang he really lucked out didn't he.

Edit:
I was just informed that his views were supplemented due to the fact that he has lived in many different countries and therefor he shows up on search results for all those countries (youtube has some IP based search). Also his girlfriend makes videos as well which helps him gain more views.
