Journeys allowed again under new management?

Forum is sold so perhaps there are different rules now, are case studies (without all details like site in question) and journeys allowed again?

Perhaps moderators can verify if the case study is legit or not. Right now most people don't want to do case studies as the nr.1 ranking factor is often PBN's and no one wants to expose them to the public.

Besides that numerous people who held case studies with all details out in the open been neg SEO'd on regular base. Not really inviting.

I know what you mean but the problem with Journeys/Case studies from SEOs like ourselves is that they are more times than not just promotional especially when they involve SEO assets like networks. Its basically I ranked using my SEO skills so hire me. Worse in case studies where information is hidden and cannot be verified the case studies can even be fake

My understanding is rules of self promotion that affected case studies have not changed

Those rules were written for very good reasons. I know they also limit the willingness of people to post case studies because it opens them up to all sorts of stuff. However, the rules were there so that people could see what the person had done and discuss the conclusions that they drew from the results. Other SEOs might see mistakes in their conclusions and take the case study in a whole different direction.

The biggest reason though is to avoid someone acting like a Pied Piper and leading hundreds of people to their doom.

It would be very easy for you, Mike, or myself to post a "case study" with all kinds of totally made up numbers and data. Some of the newer people would look at our post counts and say, "Hey. They have been here for a while. They post a lot. They must know what they are talking about." And then they would follow damn near anything we said in the case study.

Just from discussions I had in the past, I don't see those rules changing, but anything could happen down the road. I'm sure Alaister would be willing to discuss it, but I think it might be a bad idea to make changes. I don't trust 99.9% of the people that would post case studies.

In all honesty though, I think case studies like that are best served in smaller, more private settings with people you trust.

All would be out in the open.

Besides that what SEO skills does it really take to buy dropped/expired domains, publish content and link to a site.

It's not really a specific skill right? Most just don't like to do it as it's expensive and time consuming. Not because it's so hard or any magic involved.

Sure you can lose too much money buying domains at certain places and there are a few things to keep in mind like solid hosting, whois protection, link juice preservation (heck there are even plugins for that eg link juice keeper) and that type of things. Making sites look real is not even a must when SEO hosts are avoided.
