How To Restore The Warrior Forum

1. Bring back the old interface. Being able to see your posts will increase engagement. Not just that but the old smilies were cooler.

2. Return to $40 WSOs. Make it mandatory that a member is also a War Room member before they can post. Set the price of a bump at $40 but make every third bump free. This will provide a serious incentive to keep threads alive.

3. Return to a 20-year War Room membership and make the price $37 as it was in the past.

4. Make new members watch a short video that explains the basics. Stuff like not posting redundant questions; using the search feature; sig spamming, etc. Let them know there are consequences for violating these rules and make them sign off that they've watched the video and understand it. Also make new members wait 30 days before allowing their sig to go live. This would be waived for War Room members.

5. Create a new JV marketplace where members offering excellent information can partner with Warrior Forum and receive 50 percent of the sales price of various products from courses and ebooks and guides to software and graphics. Have strict rules about the quality of the products and more important, the veracity of the sales material. This alone could return a lot of the credibility to this place that has been lost over the last couple of years.

6. Return authority to the mods. I've stopped reporting issues because my reports have gone ignored. The main board is full of gray and black hat discussions that would have never been allowed before. One day a big site like CraigList or Facebook is going to trace some of the crap they often experience at the hands of "IM" termites to this site. I believe they'd have an excellent case for damages considering the number of threads that exist where members are discussing how to violate the terms of service of other sites.

The stuff mentioned above would obviously be a return to much of what was successful in the past. But in my opinion that's not quite enough. The main problem here is that there are not enough experienced members participating in the discussions. And ignoring the concerns of experienced members to appeal to the newer members is a massive mistake. It seems that management believes that their "customers" are mainly new members and that they don't want to alienate them by deleting redundant posts and other apparent "heavy handed" measures.

The problem with that is without seasoned members there are no real marketing discussions. Just a lot of filler nonsense like: "How did you make your first $10?" Or "How would you invest $12?" There are also far too many ridiculous rants and complaints. The sub heading for main board used to be: Where We Talk About Making Money. These days those discussions are few and far between.

I arrived here in 2008 and there was a much more rigid atmosphere though it was not unfriendly. Senior members often reminded newbies of what was acceptable. The mods dispensed with violations immediately. And that was just how it went. Some complained that things weren't fair but most of those people stuck around just the same. And even in the midst of this firm but fair environment the site grew and prospered. Again, I believe the mods need to be on top of things immediately. And unless that happens, and quick, this place will be all but dead within the year.

My parents used to tell me that I shouldn't complain unless I had a solution to the problem. Well, there it is. Peace.

I sincerely look forward to the implementation of most of the things mentioned by Travlinguy. The only addition I want to make is to make WSO $30 and not $40. Third bump can be free too. Every other thing is well said.

I would take everything said by Travlinguy seriously. No matter what, we all love this community and don't want it torn apart.

I'm enjoying the new interface and site. I would give it more time for everyone to adjust. There is a tremendous amount of value here and most of it is free. Let's enjoy it and make it work!

I've come to like the new UI here.

But, every other suggestion you've made, I'm on board with.

It's nice to see all the ideas in one post. I know the new owners think they "know it all" but surely the experienced members here also know a lot about what makes THIS forum work so well...so why not listen to us?

I humbly apologize. I see things are being done.
I don't know why the freelancer system got switched over to paid , but I just thought this is ridiculous.
Then I come here and people who have been here for a very long time are simply passed over. That was not right.

Anyhow. I humble myself and I apologize.

      Hi Travelinguy,

Thank you for posting these suggestions and your thoughts. I apologize for taking so long to get back to you.

      1) I completely agree with the need to see your own posts. It makes the site more user friendly and useful. We have changed the icons and have made it clear as to which threads you have posted in.

Here is the current legend for the icons:

      2) We have decided to keep this at $20 for a WSO listing and the $20 for bumping. We are working really hard at improving and training our moderators who are going through and processing the WSO submissions in all categories.

      3) We have added a lot more value to the War Room and will continue to do so. $97/year is more representative of the value being provided in the War Room. This works out to be only $8.08/month. We have given lifetime access for all War Room members who purchased access to the War Room before we changed the price.

      4) This is a great point. I agree that a lot of education and better on-boarding on our end can be done for new users. We are working on building the tools and content that will enable us to implement this sort of on-boarding.

      5) This is another great suggestion. A lot of work and cleaning up can be done to our current JV section. We have recently added JV function to Warrior Payments where sellers can set up JV agreements with partners. We are looking to revamp this section in the forum.

      6) Training of our new mods is a priority for us. We are constantly working with them to improve the overall moderation of the forum.

      Thank you for your suggestions!

And the question I asked a month or so before, referred to in post #8 above, to which I (and many others) have been promised an answer, ever since? When are you (or someone else in authority) going to get back to me on that one, please, Alaister?

I've raised a perfectly legitimate concern. Many people have publicly agreed with me about it, in many threads. I've suggested a trivially easy solution to it. We've been promised an answer about that. But we still haven't been given one, in spite of repeated very tactful requests and reminders. I'm trying not to sound like "Miss Sense Of Entitlement", here, but I'm also increasingly baffled: why has nobody replied, Alaister, for over 2 months now, to a very simple question which is clearly of concern to so many members? With the best will in the world, I think you must see that it's not unreasonable to ask this?

Sorry to ask you in public, like this, but since you apparently don't reply to private messages from concerned members, how else can I realistically try to find out?

I've responded to your other thread in regards to this. The user report flood limit has now been reduced to 10 seconds.

This to me is the real issue and why none of the other things really matter that much at least as far as the forum is concerned. Policy changes don't make people post. People make that decision and frankly most experienced members still here save a few really are not engaged in marketing focused posting. Many old members have decided and some even announced they don't intend to post for any other reason but social activity any more. So they won't be a part of the solution

To alexa's point - I could kind of understand management getting a little unresponsive (if in fact they are). Complaining is like currency - it wears out after awhile if you use it up for any and everything. Can you blame them? Its human nature.

Most regulars in some sections have been run off by the wave of newbies (and yeah recently I have been one of them run off) but the only real solution is to go in and engage or stop posting. Even after you subtract abuses and spam if theres nothing left thats interesting the forum will continue dying. Plus to be honest I've seen post from alleged experiencd members that are of no greater value than the newbs. I wouldn't write of all the "newbs". Time on a forum doesn't make anyone an expert.

What could be helpful is encouraging new members with something to say using rewards, recognition and contests. They will probably do more to grow great postings and threads than any policy or mod changes.
