Increase forum sig restrictions

IMO, you should increase the post requirement for sig display.

We have way too many people dropping 1 liners in the forum just so their sig will display.

Can't you make it so that posts that are less than three lines long don't display sig?

Then they will just drop 3 line, worthless posts. Sorry, but it won't fix the issue.

What about members who post a 1 line post that's useful, then their sig doesn't display?

Some other forums require that members have at least 50 posts before they can have a sig. What is the requirement for the WF to have a sig, about 5 posts?

Using a post count will just make it even worse. They will drop even more useless posts all over the place just to hit that magic number.

It's true that will happen, but the thinking is they'll be banned before then because it will be clear to the mods if someone is trying to short cut their way to reaching 50 posts by bumping old threads and making useless posts.

This in comparison to what happens now, which is they drop 5 useless posts then once they can add a sig, they make more useless posts to expose the sig.

So the problem of useless posts being posted exists whether the post count requirement to have a signature is either 5 posts or its 50 posts. But at least if the # of posts requirement for a signature is 50 posts then they'll be wasting their time by posting useless posts because within time they'll know they'll get banned before reaching 50 posts.

If they increase the # of posts requirement for sig to 50 posts then re-add the soft delete function so members can delete posts to be held in a moderation queue then the problem would be lessened.

It doesn't matter if the requirement is 5 or 50, the mods should be on top of anyone posting useless junk.

It is pretty clear that they want the forum to be more newbie friendly, so much so that they have gone to the extreme in not deleting useless posts unless they are dropping links for the most part.

So increasing the post requirement to 50 posts combined with the current moderation philosophy will just make things far worse.

And really the post count is not going to make a difference because most of them are just bots, so they really do not care.
