Newbies and the signature

by Regional Warrior 9 replies
Wanted to run by some of the admins and warriors and see if this would work!

I was thinking of along the lines that a new warrior can not have a signature till they have contributed to the forum first

I know some crap would be put up but that can be deleted , but also it will show them what it does mean to have the right on showing a signature and the value that come with it and maybe we can some good discussions out of the info posted by them

You could have a box to tick and once the mods ok it( the thread ) and it is of value they get the signature after 25 posts and if they don't or wont then they just have the wait till 77 posts

Agreed Paul , but I think by moving them in this direction and knowing that they have to work for it will change who is really a warrior and who is a spammer and they will be nuked and the bonus is no money needs to paid !

I was thinking the $5 fee now charged (I asumed it's still in place) must be working as I've seen several one liner and rather nonsense first posts by new members WITHOUT sigs in the past week or so.

People who join only to have a sig and then find they must pay a modest fee...seem to be going away after one post. No loss there.

Yeah we saw a small drop off in the raw count of posts, but it looks like it was mostly trash.

I think Regional Warrior is right though, once someone has demonstrated value they should be able to have a sig. I'd rather make it based on thanks counts or something like that though, rather than post count which is pretty easy to game.

Such quality posts showing up in the "articles" section - look at the last DOZEN posts in the thread below...

20+ Sites Where You Can Embed Your YouTube Video to Get Thousands of More Views | Warrior Forum

2012 thread with one bump after another promoting sites and sigs and building post count.

I've asked before - Why aren't mods catching these? If I notice them immediately after logging in and clicking "new posts" - why can't mods? Bad posts like those used to be gone in seconds or minutes - no need to report them.

Anything posted in 'Articles' these days is likely to be spam....the section has been closed for years....sort of.
